pontiac sunfire
i beat a pontiac sunfire last nite from a standing start in a parking lot, but ate up the remaining tread on my tires in the process. at the start, i took it up to about 4000, dumped the clutch, and peadled it to keep from bogging the motor. even so, i left 10 foot tracks on the pavement but was staying ahead of the sunfire. he creeped up on me in the last 100 feet, but too little too late. i think this goes to show that if youre a better driver against a better car then you have a good chance to pull it off. and having a 5 speed doesnt hurt either. enuf rambling.

hmm, the only thing is that i have no tach, so launching at 2800 precisely would be tough. gotta do somthin bout that.

Wait a minute....if you have NO tach.....how do you know you launched about 4000 ?????

I am craig......I was just wondering.....I have a BUTT dyno....maybe he has a BUTT tach!
|
you never know these days....butt tach...lol:laugh:
|
yeah i use my butt tach alot, but it comes from knowing what similar pros (LXs that do have tachs) sound and feel like at certain rpms. that and driving the car for so long ive gotten pretty good at knowing where the rpms are at and where the car makes good power, without having a tach. i also use my clutch temp gauge/nose to tell when my clutch has had enough for a while. hooray for my low budget gauge cluster.

glad to see you have a sence of humor....I was just razzin ya...no harm intended....hope there was none. :bt:
btw....I used that very same guage cluster in my last hotrod. |
