hi, im new to the forum,
i got my protege less then a year ago off my bro for $4000Cdn,
its a 94dx 1.8L sohc 4dr 5spd, it wasnt my first choice by any means, but this was the only thing my parents let me buy (i was 18 at the time), the car now has 172,000, still same clutch and it pulls like new,

well here are my race encounters,

2001 acura RL
well, i cant say i stood a chance off the line, my friend pretty much smoked me each time we launched.

94+ teg se,
stopped by a black dropped teg on red lights, i didn't intend on trying to race him, but i was kind of etching up and rolling back, the guy reved his engines, so i reved mine, he rolled down his window with a smile almost a laugh, and i guess he just didnt want to bother with a pro :(

2001 hyundai elentra, auto
now this one surprised me, these things have 140hp, and i took my friend off the line (he had a fat passenger though, thats the only thing i can think of lol), but he said he wasn;t trying b/c there was a cop behind us, yeah right, thats why he took off with me, and another time while driving i pretty much stayed beside him,

99 civic 4dr
finally i won a race :), my friend (in the civic) and me pulled out of a harveys, he was in front, i pulled up beside him, (i was in 4th, we were doing 80km), we look over at each other and it was on, dropped it into 3rd, his car was a bit ahead of me (he had auto :), he steped on before i dropped into 3rd), but as soon dropped the clutch, i started to catch up and took him i got up to 120km in 3rd and stopped. he still says he won cause he drove past me after i stopped racing :rolleyes: but it was pretty close, he was even with my rear bumper when i stopped racing.

well another friend falls victim to the pro :p
we stopped on a red light, his passenger rolls down the window and tells me to race my friend, so i agree, but i started talking to his passenger, and out of no where my friend takes off, Crap, i wasn;t looking at the lights:( my front bumper was about even with his rear by the time i got into first and dropped the clutch, in 1st stayed behind him, 2nd gear up to 70km i was starting to go by him, and in 3rd gear i was waving to his passenger as i drove by passed him :D

ever since my last race i've been thinking of what i can do to make this car faster!!! but the only thing i can find that makes a difference is an engine swap,:( and thats way to much!. the only thing i have right now is a cone air filter, and a hole in my exhaust lol!

ps im trying to keep this car clean, no ricing it up!

Good kills. Yeah I think you'll have fun fixing up your pro. All I did when I had my DX was mods with the looks and sound because there isn't a WHOLE LOT you can do with them. I like the BP motors a lot better than the SOHC, so my opinion would be to get an engine swap... it's worth the money.

i know, i want to get a swap,

but its to much :( and my parents wont let me (im 19 and they pay for insurance)

for mods, i have a system, the intake
and i might be getting an rx-7 vaf, just not sure how much they cost yet.
