I was drivig and this si was askin for it so when we got on a straight away i droped the gear and pulled till 133 but the best race was with a 92' honda h/b and he had a 95' j-spec b16
he had many bolt on on it we started racing around a turn and we were hiting about 120 around the turn then he pull up next to me and i downshifted and started pulling on it and then it's vtec ripped and pulled on the mp5.

The Pro can do 133, but it definately won't "pull" up there...

the protege5 can totally hit 133! it's totally do-able. i'm sure this is how it happened: TIGHT MP5 was on a downhill slope of a highway with a decline angle of about 30 degrees and, along with those contributing factors, must have caught the jetstream blowing tailside at about 250mph while trailing in the draft of a big rig going about 140mph.

either that, or he means 133kmh. in any case, there is no way on God's green earth that a protege5 could smoke an Si with intake and exhaust. well, maybe if the Si was running on three cylinders... or two.

A stock p5 will not do more then 122.I have pegged mine on the highway with plenty of space and only got 120. Unless you got a turbo or many other upgrades it will not happen.

i hit 120-125 on the highway once, but it wasnt redlined or pegged, that was all motor, no bottle. I dunno about 133? you'd have to sit on the throttle for like 5 minutes to get to that speed, haha.

I've hit 130 in my Pro before, but it sure as hell wasn't pulling. Once the Protege hits 110-115 it's like it hits a wall and acceleration goes to all hell. It takes quite a bit of time to get to 130+. I'm sure with 100 miles of open, straight road and no cars my Pro could max out the speedo. Then I can brag about my 0-140 mph times. "I hit 140 in just under 20.... minutes!!!"

Our engine is pretty willing up to 100-110, but bogs down majorly after that. If you wanted to "pull" to 130, you shouldn't have bought a 4 cylinder.

the mp5's was hittin around tht speed for a good seven min. the
civic was hittin at least 120 and i didn't let off the throtle and it went up to 133! either my ecu tuned it self or other pros are messed up!

Notice he never says the si raced him up to 133.
TIGHT MP5 was so busy wedging his foot against the floor, he didn't notice the SI pull 100 yards ahead of him and get off at the next exit.
He looks all around for the SI, but can't find him. He thinks, "hot damn! my car must be fast!"

Interesting thread.. How long was this race? was it on the salt plains? 133 in a pro 5 is crazy i dont even think my little 1.8 dohc 93 protege will do over 125 . Maybe off a mountain ...who knows...Jon

ok seriously though........havent posted a whole lot here but in regards to the p5 that hit 133 and was pulling......i would have to agree.......thats some insane b.s............but i will say that i have had my p5 up around 127-128 mph (not km/h) and it did take a while but not as long as you would think.......less than 3 mins i would have to say........if your from houston youll know where the beltway is and know there is nothing but open roads........so it is possible........i could have kept on it and it felt like it would have made it to the 130 mark but ran out of room due to the damn light ....(why they have lights on major road ..no clue) it was about a 7 mile stretch between the lights and i was going at it with a focus svt.that little son of a bitch is quick......had him off the launch and all the way threw 3rd then i dont know what the hell happened but that little sucker shot past me and was a good car length ahead the whole way until we hit the light(some advise...when your going that fast and you see a light ahead dont wait till the last minute to try and brake because our little stock brakes wont stop ya..i promise........i freaking slid all the way through that light and then some....freaky)so at the next light we pulled into a gas station and he let me have a peak at his motor..........GOOD LORD..........for the love of pete.........he had that sit decked.........with a turbo he said he was running about 180hp ........thought he exagerated a little on that but he was quicker then me........anyways so yes i think the p5 can do alot more than what everyone thinks it can do.........just my opinion though.................

180 turboed WHP sounds pretty reasonable, considering the stock SVT is rated at 170 (probably 145-150 whp).

are you serious.......obviously you have no idea what the hell you are talking about.......so you seem to think even with a turbo it wont hit that..looks like you need to study up BOY.......listen here tough guy since you think you know everything....heres something you dont know.........ex. i have a radar gun and i have a friend that has a '02.5 p5 and we have some law friends that secured a road for us one morning just to see how fast he could go..his mods are:ngk irridium plugs,magnacor 8mm wires, jic exhaust,garrett t25 turbo(same as new stock mp3) tied in with custom intake,sustec gf210 springs,act clutch and flywheel,intake & exhaust cam,cam gears,underdrive pulley,aem pulley set and a few other toys added on.......and i will have you know...he was clocked at 141mph........so suck on that mister know it all................oh just so you know ..had dyno ran at shop and he was putting out 182whp......so i say it again..........it is possible for our little "grocery getter" to go fast..........may not pull up there but it sure as hell will get there.........so next time you want to tell me B.S. know what your talking about.......:the finge :asshole:

You know you can't be mad at people for saying your full of it , mainly because you assumed that people knew what you had undr the hood(if this was even your car where talking about) everyone is saying that a stock p5 will not hit 133 and you know that .. So don't get upset by the posts , ok your friend hit 140 , he is not you , he has a turbo which makes it plausible , yet still a factory protege won't hit 133 , unless proceding off a cliff ....

i was simply responding to a previous post.....the origianl thread said he was racing a civic si and he (the p5) hit 133 and was pulling...i also stated that thats not prolly possible especially pulling at that speed.........anyways and my last post was simply to state that yes a p5 can hit above 133 ....and thats not my car with all the mods.....its a friend of mine........i have a '02 silver p5 with bosch platinum plugs,magnacor wires, & an intake.shit man ive hit about 126/127 in mine with just that .....no kidding no b.s. just straight out run.....so im not mad at anyone its just funny how ppl comment on posts when they don tknow what they are talking about.............its cool.............sounds to me like a whole bunch of misunderstandings ....thats jmo though..........until later..........................................lat er

I was making a semi-educated guess, based on previous turbo cars that I've driven. If the P5 has that much trouble getting to 130, then I just couldn't see it "blasting" up there really fast even with a turbo! High end take off is REALLY hard to get in ANY car.

It would NOT be easy, but I think it is doable
I will refrain my thoughts on the orginal race
but, overall, I don't think a P5 could simply
beat an SI like that.

As much as I hate it, Honda did a good job this time.

Those KA motors are rock solid, and should blow away lots of cars in a few years.

The SI is fugly beyond beliefe, but it's fast (for it's class that is).

It's not really supposed to be a quarter-mile car though. It's meant for the tracks, auto-x, stuff like that.
