That happened to me a couple of times with people with Supped and Riced up Neons, Fords, Sentra's and Honda's that i raced. And when we pulled to the next light, they asked me what was under my hood, and i said STOCK !!!!!!!!! And pulled off, hurting there feelings

i was once a race maniac in my youth (i'm old now!) and i got a lot of practice with different cars. i've rocked cars and have been rocked, but i learn everytime. i love it when ppl "buy" a race car but is still stupid as how to drive it.

that guy had a better chance by getting out and running.

if yall havent noticed, a P5 stock can woop a CIVIC EX even if it was an auto P5 vs manual CIVIC EX. the torque is wack on a civic and the mazda just kicks ass =D

my 1st gen auto DX beat a manual civic EX with an intake and exhaust :D

protege 103hp/ 111 torque
civic 126hp/ 106 torque

my 93 LX just beat a Si with exhaust and intake, and I think he had a header also.

shit dude. honda's got some wack torque. without the "vtec" as its crutch it would be nothing at all

a honda aint powerful without a motor swap.

i got killed by a civic today

Pulling out of a gas station this morning with my P5, a black civic drives past. I seen the dude lookin' at me, so I took off after him. Even though I didn't plan to take the freeway this morning, I followed him onto the on-ramp.

Now granted, he was going 30 when he went past, and I started at 0mph, but even after I caught up a bit, he drove off and I couldn't keep up.

I hit the rev limiter at 7000 RPM in second gear and decided not to go after him anymore. I needed to get off at the next exit anyway.

I've got no mods except an Injen intake. I don't know what he had; all I could see was the coffee can. And there was a strange "beehive" sound coming from his general direction.

For what it's worth, the rev limiter on a modern protege is far less harsh than it was on my '93.

with not too much work, (because there are actually kits) you can drop a late model prelude H22 into a civic and have one nasty screamer on your hands. when my wifes civix lx gets paid off, that will be on my list of nagging car stuff i'd like to do.

95LSTypeII August-1st-2002 11:50 PM

Damn. Y'alls cars sound hellaciously fast. I'll race. Anyone in the BR area of Lousyana? Or surrounding areas?

Hybrid Civics with the H22 swap are few and far between. You're much more likely to find someone with a B18b1/turbo (LSTurbo), B18C1 (GSR), B18b1 w/ B18C1 head (LSVTec), or B20/turbo (CRVturbo), or lastly B20 w/ B16a1 head (CRVTec). H22s are the largest of all these motors listed and not a popular swap among Civics because of this. It's a horendously heavy motor compared to typical B series motors. It would throw the weight distribution of the car waaaaaaay off, thus rendering the car only affective in straight lines, and who wants that kind of craptastic performance? Also the motor is too big to hook up a/c to it. SUCKY!

good points. i admit to not knowing too much about honda hybrids, but the thought of it makes me quiver. (especially with a good car sitting in front of our house waiting for a stronger motor!)

Honda engine swap

If you are doing an engine swap in a Civic, I agree with njaremka.

If I were the one doing it I would swap for the CRV motor. It has mad torque down low for a Honda and if I am not mistaken will accept parts from the B18. Can you correct me on this one, njaremka?

I have friend who just dropped a CRV engine in his Civic DX hatchback. He dropped his 1/4 mile time by 1.2 seconds because of the torque and launch off the line.(I think it could drop more than that but his racing skills, blow) No other mods besides his exhaust except the swap.

like i said, i have no clue about honda hybrids, but it would be fun. the hard part is getting a used honda motor for cheap. the power one usually go for $4-6000.
