This Evolution Never Had A CHANCE!
This happened while going to Orlando for the weekend.
I was aproaching I-4 from the Turnkpike when i saw an Intercooler with a Mitsubishi logo on top. Hold and behold, an Evolution.
Gosh, those cars are sexy.
He was comming fast behind me, so i played a little bit with it making it slow down to 50MPH. Then, the traffic cleared a little bit so i downshifted into magic 4 and went rich on the AFR dial. A steady 10 made black smoke come out of the tail paipe, the EVO knew it meant BUISNESS!
I skip a few cars with my awesomely suspension, TOKICO Illuminas and H&R Springs. The car drove like on RAILS!.
Still, the evo was following closely. I didn't want to go faster because of traffic, then, as if it was fate, traffic cleared completely giving the EVO and me a chance to test our limits. I downshifted into 3rd gear, getting the engine to rev to a sweet 5500 RPMS, i wait patiently while the EVO changed lanes and got next to me. I could hear his exhaust, it was one of those Greddy's everyones talks about.
The EVO engine roared at high RPMS, just like mine. They sounded like dogs when they are about to fight and drool and foam is comming out of their mouths.
We didn't need to beep it three times, we were in sync, like clockwork we both step on the gas, my tires chirped at 50MPH while his tires just gripped like a cheeta after its prey. I reach 9900 RPMS in no time thanks to my J-Spec cam, my car wants to pull more, but in the back of my mind i know the REV Limiter is eager to fuel cut so i quickly shifted into 4th gear. The BOV on my car was loud, louder than it has ever been, sounding furious. My car had only one thing on its mind, "Killing The EVO"
After doing this, the front of the EVO was right at my door. I knew this because i glimpsed quickly while looking at my A-Pillar mounter Boost gauge that was readin just a little over 19psi then giving a quick look at my AFR's which were holding at a steady 11.5:1.
The weather was perfect, not too hot, not too cold. Dry as a funeral drum!
My revs started raising as quick as my adrenaline. In no time i was at 9900 RPMS once again. The EVO had shifted not long before me. I could hear his BOV releaving the pressurized air in his pipes. Breathing like a cougar.
I shifted into 5th Gear.
Knowing that i had only about 5000 RPMS before my engine would max out once again, thanks to the Rev Limiter.
The MSP was still, its chassis wasn't making a sigle noise. All i could hear was my exhaust. It was loud. Like a thunder. My engine was perfoming like it should.
I was slowly but shurely gaining on the EVO. By this time, the Greddy FMIC on the Evolution Beast was at the rear door. I could barely see the front of the car thru my rear view mirror. He was right on my blind spot. The MSP didn't hesitate at this, it wanted more!
When reaching 9000 RPMS, we were doing a good 150 MPH.
I was about to hit the dreaded 155 MPH Speed Limiter Wall. I wasn't about to let this happen. To the flip of a button i immediately turned off the VSS signal to the ECU. The MSP knew what was about to happen.
In the distance, i see lightning. Even the earth was witnessing what was developing on its surface.
I went past 9900 RPMS. I have no record of how fast i am going, i had turned the VSS off. My tachometer was reading zero. My boost gauge was reading 21 PSI and my AFR's were right between 11 and 11.5.
Both my hands holding the steering wheel, keeping this beast from massive TorqueSteer.
I sense i have put a good fight against this Evolution. I reach 10000 RPMS and decide to let it go. I was sure i had won the fight. My dog had Evolution blood all over him. It was time to turn my emergency signals. Letting him know he had lost.
As i'm about to do this my Alarm clock went off. It read 8:00 AM, time to get up and buy the tickets for Universal Studios. It was then when it hit me. I finally understood. I had found the answer to everyones questions about the MSP.
CLIFF NOTES:
Raced an evo on the highway, I won by half a car. Speed unknown since there was no VSS conencted. Woke up.
