Drop Speed

What RPM Do you guys drop at off the line? What tires do you gave?

KpaBap Feb 6, 2003 01:23 AM

Heh, depends on how mad I am at the moment.

If I just got done getting yelled at by teh girlfriend I'd drop it at 5500 and burn out all through first and quite a bit of second gear. It's scary seeing a little econobox smoking the tires like there's no tomorrow , it just doesn't feel right. It always has the nice effect of shutting her up for a bit.

If I'm just trying to show off and smoke a civic or two I drop it in at around 3500.

Right now I'm dropping at slightly below 3000 but with stock BP and bald fronts :-)

I usually go from 3k-4k..depending on how 'ready' I am. I am running the factory Dunlop SP Sport 5000s.

Bald.

I usually rev up to 2,500-3,000 right b4 i go, then slip the clutch for a millisecond(enough to get the wheels spinning) then punch it. If i "drop" the clutch i get wheel hop and i hate that feeling(like something going to break):tear: I like driving my car alot more than spending the weekend working on it.
Tires are Firestone Firehawks.

Re: Drop Speed

when i race i rev up to about 3000 or 3500 or some where in there and just drop the clutch. my tires spin for a sec and then get traction. just practice your start offs, you will find the perfect point

scottie855 Feb 23, 2003 01:37 PM

i will drop it at around 2500-2900. if i can hit between those two numbers then i will get the tire spin that i need to start to go, but not to much. for tires i only have a set of cheap tire shop tires but i still do get better starts then my friends GSR. when we race and the fact that he can not really drive all that well it i always take him off the line. he doesn't catch up until the end. REMEMBER the kid can not drive the car if he could i would eat his dust all the way down the track.

I would worry about ur axiles and tranny more than ur motor. i do 1500-2000...Jon

To me it really depends on the type of surface i am on.. usually at the local drag strip i drop it at around 3800 without any real problems.

On the street though if its asfault that is usually enough to get em spinning and have to go for about 3k.

mygreenmazda Feb 23, 2003 10:57 PM

I have Falkens ziex and I drop the clutch at around 3k with a slight chirp

lukasz70 Mar 17, 2003 11:47 PM

nah, i dont bother reving before i drop the cluth,

when racing i usually drop the clutch at like 1500rpm the most or even less the only thing is i step on the gas, once i get going, my tires still chirp a little but its not from dropping the clutch,

i have dropped the clutch before from like 3000rpm to peel out but that gets me a bit to much wheel spin if i step on the gas, and the clutch is now at 172,000km, and no signs of slipping, so i want to keep it that way for now,

as for tires, just now normal all reason from walmart:)

Well for me personally I'm still getting used to my turbo and all. The one thing I know that I need to wider tires with more traction! I forgot what kind of tires I run but they are pretty cheap skinny tires. My issue is if I floor it at all, even after I'm rolling I'll spin all the way through my first three gears. It sucks but it's kinda cool at the same time :D.
