Beat an S10
 

Well, does everyone remember that S10 that i wanted to race when i first got my license?, Well me and him were getting off the interstate and I ask him if he wants to race he first suggests do a cop check so we ride down the high way type road and do a check no cops in site, so then we start back up all the way to the end of the road and go to the dead end and it becomes a turn around and we get turned around and its nothing but a dual laned straight away for about a mile or so.,.. we line up and stop i ask him if we want to go from here or go up to the redlight (how convineint) and i ask him if he wants to do both , we decide to go up to the light and we give a little "push" test as we are pulling up to the light to see who would jump quicker, well the light was greeen soo i count down with my fingers, aand as i get to one all i hear are squeels of tires while he was shifting I stay with him as we are accelerating and i hear another squeel, and at this point he has a little gain on me, but once we get to higher gears and top speed, i start to pull on him and then i pass him doing about 102mph?? and i get to the bridge and my friend who was riding with me said its over, i said huh? he said everyone only races to the bridge..I was like yay....So afterwards we pull over and talk hes like my governer started kicking in at 94..just the otehr day he said he was doin 99mph..hes got a stupid truck...his truck was a 2003 Chevrolet S10 Manual 4 cyl...

4cyl S10?????? dubba ya tee eff man.

nice. we have a street around here that sounds just like that, that we race on, THE AMSTUTZ!! its where they filmed groundhog day the blues brothers and that new batman thats coming out lol

Shouldn't you have beat him soundly? Granted my friend's S-10 is the 4cyl with auto, but it is the sorriest pig i have ever driven (that includes a stock Pinto w/ auto... ). Truly. I h8 to drive it. [shaking head ruefully]

Explain to me how he was the winner if i got to the Bridge before he did?

i drove a 4cyl s-10 auto once to work. it is possibly the slowest vehicle i have ever driven. (not counting 5-tons, HMMWV"S, HEMTT's, etc. ) It would downshift on a 2% uphill grade with the cruise control on at 65. YIKES!

my brother owns a 4cyl s-10 auto ......driving it and then getting in my car feels like I'm strapping myself into a single -turbo FD....i could EASILY smoke him by 4-5 cars 0-60.

i dunno about the old s10's but my 4 cyl. Colorado has plenty o' power for me.

2.2L S-10's are Like 100 BHP and the tranny is geared more for carrying a load than accelleration...you better beat them ! :bt:

How did he beat you? Because he stopped racing once it was apparent you were not beating him! Just pushing it to top speed is dumb (IMHO). I gotta' side with the friend.

Does passing a Ranger who just passed you (for no reason!) count as a win?

I guess, it could be a new sport called outrun and if so ive beaten a 350z who could not drive for crap, and my friend never stopped racing, he has flow masters(loud) and a modded chip (so he says) and I never heard the flows let off so he didnt quit i was on his ass the whole time anyways..
