94 Protege Vs. Riceburner Prelude

Yea it all started while i was heading to goto a autosalvage yard with GroHarlem. On the way down, i saw a red glare in my rear view mirror...as time went by, it happend to be a few of our asian friends in a Riced Prelude. The Traffic light came, i reved my engine...(jus to play around). THen they took off like it was a race to their death. I Looked at GroHarlem and Laughed.:D
By that time...i cranked out the MAZDASPEED in me...and Flew up to them doin 110mph. Before i got up to them they did the retarted...I WON with the 4-Way Flashers. At the next light they were like laugin at me and just did a U-Turn and went back the other way.

Pretty stupid ppl for havin a rice burner. I really didnt call it a race, i jus thought it was funny to see what they would do. HEHE

Its just a myth!

What makes a prelude any more of a rice burner than a protege? They don't seem so stupid to me. Just having a little bit of fun I guess. You reved, they fed you a beating. They wouldn't know if your kidding or not.
I doubt your protege had much of a chance against a prelude anyway?

the prelude doesn't have i-vtec. they stopped making the prelude in 2002 because of the rsx. its too bad, i kinda liked the prelude. (not that rsx is a bad car, but it is already replacing the integra).:p

And WTF does double clutching have to do with drag racing? Did you watch too much F&F again?

I was sick home from work, cough cough, and watched that today. When they made mention of the "double clutch" all I could think of was the "bull s*** alarm" going off in my head:p

No they did'nt. The only engine ever put in any 5th generation Prelude in North America was the Vtec (NOT i-Vtec) H22, wether it be a Prelude S or Type-S, they have the same engine, only the Type-S has more features and ATTS (Automatic Torque Transfer System) -- which by the way is extremely cool. You're right about the 200hp, but you're wrong about the i-Vtec, sorry. There was another engine that was available in the 5th gen Prelude, but not in North America. It is called the H23 and does not have Vtec and as the (very well thought up) engine code suggests, it's a 2.3L engine whereas the H22 is a 2.2L. The first car to be equipped with i-Vtec in North America was the RSX (Integra everywhere else).

Oh yeah by the way, I was wondering what the hell he was talking about double clutching... I do that when I downshift, but I did'nt know it could be done when upshifting... Of course it was a movie, cause why would all four cars have afterburners kits and how does shooting NOS make a steel plate fall from his passerger footwell? That and the fact that they do Dukes of Hazard stuff and their bodykits don't have a scratch and I hit a pothole and it takes a chunk out of my fascia... Good 'ol Hollywood!

Bizob January-9th-2002 12:53 AM

Ummm.. hehe... Do you know what ATTS does? It transfers power to the outside wheels during a turn which tightens the turning radius and allows the driver to apply throttle earlier on the way out of the turn. Doesn't exactly sound like an LSD to me... It has no effect unless the car is turning, and even then, it depends on how sharp a turn and at what speed... Granted, it's not as effective or mechanical (therefore reliable) as the 3rd gen Lude's 4 wheel steering, but it still works. Apparently, though, it just takes some getting used to when racing, cause you have to have more guts to lay off the brakes earlier to prevent slight oversteer -- not understeer...

actually its not that much heavier. Its computer controlled. When you are turning the car the computer analyzes how much the wheel is turned, the lean angle of the car and the speed. It adjusts how much power is sent to the outside wheel to make you actually tighten your turn. Once you get used to it this is something that a good driver could exploit. The preludes were discontinued due to them being such slow sellers. They were very expensive for what you got. The only thing they had going for them was an awesome engine. When VTEC came on there is a huge ruch of power...much more noticable than in the civic SI or the integras. As for I VTEC the new RSX, and civics have it as well (ES, SI and maybe the LX) i believe the new CRV was gonna get it too.
