this is a picture of the powder I'll be using to try some coating that will match the spicy msp paint. It's a tropical orange with heavy gold flake. It costs about $35/lb if anyone is interested.

don't mean to sound stupid, but i didn't realise powder coating really involves powder!
lol
that color looks hawt! what are you powder coating though?

wish i had someone like you here in trinidad matt.

Wow. Before you powdercoated my wheels I was going to do all of my trim in Spicy Orange.
But now that my wheels are black it's just going to look too Halloween-y so I'm stickin' with a black & silver theme.
Too bad, that's nice.

Damn, cant wait to see some stuff done up with that!

right now this is an experiement to see how well the color matches. I'm going to coat some sample squares and maybe some other random pieces here to see how it coats over polished or chromed metal (some look better over chromes or cleared).

Powdercoating uses positively charged powered and a negatively charged metal to create a static field. The powder is blown through an air gun which then sticks to the metal....like static tends to do. Then you heat cure or UV cure the metal to a specific temperature and let the powder gas out. People think you heat the powder but you dont. You heat the metal...Thicker metals take a lot longer and have to be done more cautiously.

Aluminum is easiest for me which is why I don't charge much for it. I can just prep and spray and be done in an afternoon.

I'll post some more pics of the engine bay I did on my brothers corolla XRS. (I'm not responsible for the wire looms....those were'nt my ideas. I did the powdercoating and polishing on the engine stuff though.

pics of toyota 1.8L 2ZZ engine. This is actually a pretty neat little car. 170bhp, 8200rpms and a valve-lift profile scarier than a TegTypeR.

The hoses are not my doing but everything else was done by me.

You arent the only one that just now realized that..

as for the hoses...I kinda think the bright red makes it look cheap, ive always just liked black..
