P5 meets new Interstate

New interstate that has been under construction since the dinosaurs finally opened a few months ago. Have been wanting to get some photos on it for a long time. Sunday I had my chance.

This is I-22. Its SUPPOSED to stretch from Memphis to Birmingham. However, it dead ends just outside Birmingham city limits for now.

No traffic at all. I passed maybe 8 cars the whole time I was on it. (I drove 40 miles or so)

Crazy on ramp that had been blasted and they never leveled off the sides:

Also, heres the results of my clay barring it. Turned out GREAT!

I used Mothers Clay Bar, Showtime Quick Detailer as the lube, and waxed it with Mothers Carnuba cleaner wax.

that's pretty cool or at least very interesting that you can just park it on the road like that and snap pics. car's looking very clean and stock--nice. clay bars are amazing things, did wonders for my beige paint, which with some meguiars carnuba ("level 27" or something super shine...aka it works real well) wax. felt amazing.

Super shiny. Nice shots!

what's the little piece of adhesive on the front bumper? My car had residue of adhesive there on the stock bumper that discoloured it a little bit, never did clean that up on that bumper.

looks good. how do you get there? I'd like to issue you a street race challenge.

you vs the scooter.

Easiest way is just hit Hwy 78 through Forestdale, Adamsville, and Graysville and you will hit one of the first exits on it right off 78. Hwy 78 is supposed to be integrated into it soon...whenever Bham gets their shit together...funny I know.

Yeah we can run em. We'll need someone to setup and watch for cops and pizza boys. I only run for pink slips. Ill be using Nos also....two of the big ones. Hope I dont blow the welds on my intake. Ill have enough in there to blow myself up.

BTW, in all seriousness...you would probably 'woop my ass' (technical phrase) up till about 85ish.

It doesn't matter whether I win by a mile or a mile per gallon. Ask any racer...any REAL racer. The only thing that matters is winning.

p.s. it takes FOREVER for me to get to 80+mph.. 0-55mph or so it's quicker than most commuters but it has some flat spots in acceleration. I'll jump most everyone off the line but between 25-35mph it falls on it's face. After that the cam starts coming on and it pulls good to about 45mph..then the final gear drive reduction kicks in causing it to lag for a second and after that you should be around 6k rpms....from 6k to 9k rpms it's pretty peppy. My roll on speed (45mph kick) is enough to surprise a lot of people in traffic.
