i dont know if the NASA rules are different, but your car isnt STS legal according to the SCCA
I know but every time i race local SCCA stuff they frist of all don't but me in Novice class and second always but me in STS even after i tell them my mods. If the yput me in my right class which I believe would be F modifed I'd be racing myself every event noone in the class.

NASA but me in G stock which I got my ass kick by the WRXs and a Focus SVT. Need more horseses.

The brakes are clearly not legal, and im not sure if you have the cams or not, but those would be illegal. What else you got done to that thing?
Brakes are not legal you mean not allowable in STS. No internal engine work just intake and exhaust, working on a T3 turbo though probally take tel the end of the summer. What else have I done its more like what have I not done which is rear brake drums still OEM, front sway bar OEM, trans, dif, and axles are OEM Thats about it. By next year I'll probally have turbo charged the car, LSD, if they come out from Indgospeed pulles and lightweight flywheel, MP3 front swaybar, and maybe Lexaten windows in the rear. I'm install GC adjustable camber and toe plates this week to give me upto 2 degress of front camber and finishing my rollcage.

Nice to see some show cars actually racing
Yup I'm more about the racing but having a presentable car for folks that don't know shit about cars to wonder what the fuck I'm spending all my money on is cool too I guess and the chick to seem to like it.

Car calssing responsibility.

I hear ya. I'm diffently not a sandbagger so no worrries there. I've been running in the STS class in SCCA events until my recent mods which I'll be running in the SM class which all is mute anyway since I can run novice until I win my first trophy which by the way I'm not. I'm running with the big dogs even though this is my first season. At the recent NASA-X event they classed the car for you in which they put me in G stock.
I also run my car in F modified right? Which I wouldn't do either because there is never anybody racing in that class locally. Although I have all these mods I'm still running regular street tires. I’m working on some Hoosiers or shaved Kumhos. As far as the WRXs and Imperza they pretty much rule the STX and SM classes around this area. Seems all they Subaru dealerships have purpose built WRXs for their employs or teams to race at Autox. Also the Mini Cooper dealerships are doing the same little battle at the local autox. . Seems there is a lot of money in the D.C. area. Until I start even getting close to betting some folks they really don’t give shit what I race hell we get 300 people showing up at the local events and still have another 2-30 waiting to race and I’m coming in the last half of class right now.

Dave....
Nice pics! I didn't even realize my car was in the first one until the second time I looked at this post. How did you and Will do on the road course?

biknman May-9th-2002 07:12 AM

Road Course

Don't know they posted times for all the cars but not what class they where in. So I did'nt know what other cars where in my class so that could compare they did'nt say when the awards where so I missed the cermony. The whole race was kind of ran loosely was hard to find out info and stuff no real schdule but was tons of fun which is what mattered. Becuase of this super off camber turn into an super steep uphill I didn't do so well becusae I'm so under powered and I was running street tires but I'm working on that.

Hey David, I like your body kit that you have on there and I'm thinking about it for my Silver ES. Is that the Corksport kit or the Mazdaspeed kit? I'm trying to tell the difference if any between the two. Also how much did it set you back with installation and everything? Thanks

good name btw

David Dial

It's Cork Sports version of the Mazdaspeed kit. Everything totaled up including repainting 2/3rd of the car plus shaving the antenna and rear emblems cost me around $3500.00. It took a whole week just to prep and fit the kit to the car but the shop I had it done at grantees their your for a lifetime. The difference between the two kits is that the J-spec ones is thicker and has a thick jel-coat. But the shop that did my work layered on several coats of poly primer, reinforced the weak areas, and epoxied in custom mounting brackets to the inside so that the bumper could be mounted. I don't know about the j-spec version but Cork Sports version you lose your bumper reinforcement, the thing that takes the blow if you hit something with the front bumper.
