New Pics

Hey Crew,

Just wanted to give any of you fellow picturephiles a heads up, that I am currently in the process of updating my web page with scores of new pics. I just completed another step of my own JDM (J-Spec & Mazdaspeed) front end conversion with the recent addition of a 97-98 J-Spec front fascia. I have had the clear corner signals and J-Spec hood scoop for years now, and so otherwise all that would be left to go complete JDM are the J-Spec headlights, front grill conversion, and the front lip. I know I am going to get the headlights eventually (wishing for the projectors project to finally go into production), but I think the rest of the front is going to be a completely custom job. I have a connection through a friend of mine with a really good custom autobody shop and they can fab the front lip of my choice/design onto the fascia, and same story goes for the grill insert. I will probably couple it all with the Erebuni sides and rear, and a complete custom paint job with shaved handles. This is all years down the line mind you, but all should look really tight when I am done. I plan on keeping my Pro forever, but have my eyes on getting a Mazda6 and modding that in the mean time, as well. Both will look unreal the way my dreams go, but unfortunately these kinds of dreams are heavily dependent on cash flow :(

Anyway, like I orginally started typing before I got on my usual side track, stay tuned to my web page for the updated images section. You guys are free to check out all the rest of my page as well so don't be shy, and do sign the guestbook if you get the chance. I will leave you the link that goes straight to my Protege's images section though. Alright, you guys take care

Update

As noted in the above message, I am updating the images section on my web site. Of more note to you guys, would be my Protege section. I went a little nuts with my girlfriends digital cam, and took almost 100 new pics of my car...yes I am a big dork. Many of the images will or may look duplicate. I took as many as I did figuring I would take 'em now and edit 'em out later...just so happens I liked most of them. I started getting a bit artsy towards the end, playing off the various landscape at hand. Anyway, until I figure out how exactly I am going to lay-out the images into a web page, if at all, for now you guys can raid my cache as I edit the pictures down to size and into my images store. There are like 20 brand new images in there now, and I have about 60 more to edit and add in so check regularly if you are interested. Again, stay tuned....

Damond,
Looking tite brotha! At first, i was kinda pissed that i ended up with the 95/6 bumper instead of the 97/8, but, now, im very happy how it turned out. Check out the PHOTO section to see pics or click my sig to see one.
It would be totally wicked to have our car's picture taken side by side....one would be the darkside (you), the other could be the lightside (me)

(Your car is like a photo neg of mine...weird)
:bt:

Update

Yeah, sorry for any of you slower internet people. Both my home and work computers are ethernet (T1) and so I never really even pay attention to potential load speed otherwise, everything comes up in a snap for me :) I served my days at 56K though in the past, and though I can't truly appreciate how long things take to load at that speed anymore, I do remember it sucking! I am never going back either. If it is any solice, I am going through the rigors of editing every image down to a more acceptable @150K, which is why it is taking so long. My girls digi-cam was taking images at @320K. I will gradually filter all them into that cache I gave the URL for, and between now to maybe Saturday I should get them all in there.

All Done

All the new images have finally been downsized and loaded into my cache. While I figure out how to reconfigure my entire actual Protege web page, you will be able to source all of my Protege images here at http://www.people.virginia.edu/~dac9d/images/Prototype/

so are you going to make that a functional hood scoop or just for looks?

Kid Cromer July-11th-2003 03:24 AM

Hood Scoop Question

The Hood Scoop is "semi-functional" already. Meaning, for right now it works as an engine bay vent. You can't really tell by any of the pictures, but where the hood scoop is, are drilled several several 1" holes (@15). It was the largest size hole saw I had available to me at the time, and I don't have a jigsaw or anything like that so for me the holes do for now. I had a project in the mental works where I would have a "do it yourself" a forced air induction here coupled to my intake, but as far as do it yourself goes there are a number of potential problems. First, I myself don't know how to position my intake to the hood scoop area because things are just so crowded in the engine bay, and then more importantly whenever it rained I would be phucked unless I came up with some water-proof system. All in all that project would be best left to a professional, which I can't currently afford. When I do my engine swap and turbo further down the line, I will come back to this are to see if we can make the scoop more than just an air vent.

Another note, some of you may note the "DC" sticker on my windshield. YES this is a DC Sports decal, and YES I know DC Sports makes nothing for Mazda. HOWEVER, I got the sticker because my intials are DC and I like the design. If this makes me some kind of poser than so be it, I am not a sticker geek.

Nice looking pics! They're helping to sway my decision towards getting the JDM front bumper. I like the way it looks on your car. Mine currently looks like this:

...so needless to say I'll be buying a new one anyway :p

Favor

Hey again crew. This time I have a huge favor to ask for any of you browsers. I managed to arrange 4 different arrays/formats via which you can view my images. I don't know which one I like best, I don't know which one works best i.e. quicker load times, etc. and so I was hoping you guys could check them out and then get back to me, private message me, what have you. You would be helping out my indecisive a$$ a ton. Whichever gets more nods wins. Thanks again...

Damond , just a side note.
This really belongs in the photo/vid gallery...
but I am gonna let you live..

Bruce95fmla July-11th-2003 06:32 PM

also you need a tripod for the night shots.
If your girls camera has a iso adjustment then set it to 100 and then use the tripod and take the photo's without a flash..
the pictures will be much more crispeir .. and sharp
