HELLO This is a picture of my new car, I now have 550 Km on it...still going to put the Bug Deflector on the front cause I like the look of them.

Is it really a 2002 or just a leftover 2001? The side badge says "ES 2.0", I thought for 02 they changed it to just "ES". Anyway, nice car!:bt:

Help...I am unsure...what to look for???
 

I bought this car at a very reputable Mazda dealership in Edmonton called Sundance Mazda, Since I am not familiar with the graphics scheme from the 2001 Mazda, now I am at a loss...I purchased this car as a 2002 Mazda Protege ES-GT model, ( it is the Canadian version of the GT )...can anyone tell me for sure if it is ONLY supposed to say ES...or is that only on the American versions??? I can't see a dealership screwing a guy over like that, but I could be wrong...PLEASE HELP....

Easiest way to tell is: Is the handle on the trunk all chrome or body color?

if it's all chrome then it's 02.

I have the chrome strip on the trunk, the white gauges, the 3 spoke steering wheel with cruise buttons on lower left side, it must be that the 2002 GT in Canada has the side badge of "ES 2.0" and the American version does not.

Cruise buttons are on lower right, not left...my mistake. ::p

once you do decode the VIN number please post your findings as I am sure that others will be interested in that info... specially the ones that live in your area as it might steer them away from the dealer if there is an issue

Actually in Canada Proteges LX do not have the 2.0, so if it says ES 2.0 I'm guessing that's the reason, however in the STates all the models are 2.0, so no point of putting 2.0 there

Zoltan -- what color is your Protege? The page with your car's pic is no longer active on the website. If you could, please post a pic of the rear end -- I am curious to see what the chrome trunk garnish looks like, as I would like one on my green '99 ES. Wanna trade? :cheers:
