Which Hood Option?
My carbon fiber hood is in next week, but I can't decide whether or not to paint the sides like the Wings West protege or not. I feel that it will blend it into the car alot better, but I Photoshopped 2 samples so I can get some feedback. Please vote, and let me know your comments. And I'm keeping the mesh grills! :p

edit: changed my mind. white stripes would look ass. the red's good.
humour me and do the outer areas white rather than red. just curious. all the black is throwing the red/white look off. given the two you've done though, i like the centre black and the edges red. somehow you need to carry the white through from the front to the rest of the car. |
i agree, the red, black AND white is not doing it ... somehow, someway the white needs to get in it i think, personally i think it looks good without a CF hood , but since its ordered lol i dont know
|
I feel exactly the same way about the white. I've got enough white on the back, but the black hood may throw it off a bit on the sides, even with the white rims. I am leaning towards painting the sides of the hood though. Thanks for the feedback so far, and keep it coming!

Forget painting the sides of the CF hood and leave it black, looks more racy that way. But then, I'm a fan of Spoon Sports.
|
some sort of subtle graphics in black and white would tie everything together regardless of the hood being painted.

I'm with Alco, either way, you should get some white decals from Donald and place them on your hood to bring it all together...
|
the FIRST PICTURE!! thats sweet!
|
when I order mine I am leaving it black on my 2nd gen ....
But anyway I think it would look good semi painted , sides red and middle black .. and just as good with the whole hood black ... It should look good anyway you do it ... i would not paint the middle white though .. just to much white for my taste bruce |
.........although it's not one of the options, have you considered painting the whole hood red???
|
I screwed up my vote (I know, I'm an idiot), but I like the way it looks painted like in the first pic.

Since you do not like the idea of painting the hood red, which in my opinion looks the best, then you should keep it CF. Can't wait to see the pics.

Dont paint it at all. Black goes w/ everything. It'll look good unpainted cause it'll match the black on the tires, the trim on the windows.

Paint it man, eventually your going to want to so do it now mate..
|
have you thought about using vynil to do the sides of the hood
|
IMO unpainted hoods look like you have had an accident and have not had the bodywork finished yet. Paint the whole thing!
Just had to get that in:D |

Paint the whole thing then Nick. IMO it'll look a little better than the one w/ red on the sides, and the full black carbon. Or, if you want...you can make it fade from red (on the sides) to black (in the middle). That'll give it some nice effect.

Option one looks very cool. Almost looks like it would want a darker grille though.

I tried a few more in photoshop, and I found that it looks tight as hell with the stock grills, but then the white everywhere else on the car seems lost, like the only white thing I have is the rims. In fact, that's true, but I'm theming my car red and white, so I'd like to keep the grills, etc. I'm going to get it painted, because if not I'll be kicking myself in the ass for a long time. I have a funny feeling that once it's actually on the car, it'll look WAY better than any picture could ever show. :D

Paint it:bt:

leave the hood alone, looks fine the way it is.

white grills and white rims , red car with a black hood... that should look decent to me .. you really don't need much more white on the car aside from the interior

So are you goind to have anymore black on the car anywhere, like what people were suggesting with the graphics or interior? Or what about any other carbon fiber pieces? I personally want you to paint it, only because I drive a red Pro5 and am getting my hood. lol
Actually I think it looks better painted either way. Nice car though. |
