FOXXXY Protege

Well- I have sort of been on the site for awhile- My husband starrted this account on here for me, I drive an 02 Mazda Protege ES automatic (I know I know- I should have bought a 5spd- Long story why I didnt) Very minor modifications have been done, and havent gotten crazy because I was in college when I bought it, and now he is in college- makes modding both of our cars hard.
Mods include
Cold Air intake, 2 1/4 in custom exhaust- cat back, Tein Basics, upgraded rear sway bars from AWR with adjustable end-links. Interior Kenwood Excelon CD Player, 2 Kenwood 10" typhoon's Kenwood Excelon 1000 watt amp, and upgraded Kenwood in dash speakers from factory-(thrown in to make the sale-haha). Thats about it here is FOXXXY
pic before she got lowered- or washed- haha (edited for you guys)

I was thinkin the same thing...lol.
Hey Karen, another midwesterner to keep you company!

Oh and welcome to the site foxxxy.

Roddimus Prime July-13th-2005 01:24 PM

THATS what a good sleeper should look like!. Some small suspension upgrades to enhance the aleady stellar handling and just needs a bump in power and that car will earn some respsect. I love the clean lines of the stock body. I was going to advise getting the MS body kit but then thought...,"no, this looks good just like it is".

you do need some nice lightweight 17" rims though....or powdercoat your stockers black like Kargoboy's. Gloss black rims on that white would look very nice I bet.

I like the choice of audio! The Kenwood Excelon series are very good, and not cheap. :dj:

Foxxxy July-13th-2005 02:25 PM

Thanks for the comments- My husband has done most of the work to it- except the exhaust- he had a buddy who did awesome exhaust work. The entire Sound System was installed by him, along with the intake and the suspension was all done by him and his friend in that shop in the background in the last two pics.

Lookin to get a little more speed out of her in the next year or so. But the handling on this car was the reason I bought it, and with the upgrades we have done to it, only added to that performance.

Yeah that first pic- hahaha- first nice day after winter here is SD- later that day I washed it, but yeah it was pretty dirty. I am looking for a good set of rims for it currently, but yeah, my husband keeps telling me lightweight= better performance comes first, looks second.
With that said here are the rims I am looking at getting- in gunmetal though

Those look like creepy spiders....and don't worry, I don't NEED any more wheels for my car. I think 3 sets is enough

Roddimus Prime July-13th-2005 03:32 PM

i agree with your husband ...

1. weight

2. size

3. style

p.s. phil how much are those and what do they weigh? I like the look of them. They'll be nice on the white.

JDM-P5 July-13th-2005 03:55 PM

1. Pretty fawking heavy I bet (no idea, the site doesn't list it)...10 thick spokes = mad weight.

2. 17x7 5x100/114.3 40 offset

3. Innovative 5 spoke on 5 spoke design. Offers more than just a plain 10 spoke wheel.

4. I found a super good deal on them (less than $400 shipped w/o tires to my front door) & I'd like to keep that on the low-low until I have them in my clutches. then I can divulge all my info on 'em.

Jackelope July-13th-2005 04:09 PM

----- cats back in the bag! :)

JDM-P5 July-13th-2005 04:10 PM

Barry....I wanted to keep the name & style under wraps.

lol...yes, now that the cat is outta the bag.

Phil, are you lowered? What kind of tire are you gonna run? I'm thinking you might have some rubbing with that offset...

Phantom Cruiser July-13th-2005 05:27 PM

Lord knows...I'm all about the "different".

Yes. Tein S-Techs. I'm not sure what tire size yet, but when I get them...I believe I will go w/the biggest tire size I can go with. 215/40 I think? 205 maybe? What's your views on this tire/wheel gurus?

Karen got any input? Don't you have 18's w/no rubby rubby?

Yep...sorta. I had to raise the coil-overs up in the back because they were rubbing. They still rub in the back sometimes if there is weight back there, i.e. passengers. They are 18 X 7.5s w/ 215/35/18s (I'm not sure of the offset and the Teck website doesn't have it on there). Basically I have heavy wheels, heavy tires, and no sidewall protection. It rides like complete arse w/ the 18s on. I don't recommend 18s for a daily driver. :red:

I believe I'll make it work....if not, I'll have to invest in a good set of aftermarket adjustables....maybe Koni....maybe Tein...depending on what type of money I'm looking at spending....or if they are even needed at all.

alex_aha July-15th-2005 12:31 AM

where did you get them from phill?

Well, I officially ordered my wheels 5 minutes ago.

To answer all questions, simply go here:
ADR SZ1

Ebay is still my number 1 spot for wheels...hands down.

That's it for a while (apart from tires)...I need to save for this camping out @ the SE Meet and a cruise to Mexico w/an old flame of mine (after 4 years of not knowing where the other one was, she found me by googling my name...go figure). Besides, some local guy is supoosed to be taking a mold of my hood and Topher's trunk to make us some CF stuff....so hopefully i get a free hood outta that. :)
