My guess is that after his shift to 2nd, he kept the RPM...when he started to back off the throttle, his right rear tire caught, launching him to the left. 91-92 MR2 turbos had open diffs, so that's my guess.

Didn't the turbos have ABS too? Even if he didn't have ABS I honestly think there was still more braking power available without being able to lose it

Welcome to last week... about 3 months ago when this topic was last discussed it was discovered that the MR-2's aftermarket steering wheel came off and subsequently the driver lost complete control of the car.

The jetta owner is on VWforums

Do you have the link of the VWforums?
I sure would like to read what the Jetta owner said about this incident.

from a few posts above:

"Welcome to last week... about 3 months ago when this topic was last discussed it was discovered that the MR-2's aftermarket steering wheel came off and subsequently the driver lost complete control of the car."

It makes sense to me.

the sudden left tun may be from his rear tires spinning and he turned the wheel the wrong way to try and correct himself from going sideways.

Or maybe he tried to spin the car around and do a 180

he could use the handbrake or something, that ain t woking that way. but he was too slow to do anything like that. my dog could keep the line! that was dumb

UCSBgeek February-22nd-2003 04:11 AM

I'd really think he'd have PLENTY more brake play left before he'd lose control from pushing them
