Nice pics!

I am really happy to see that many 1st gens at Autocross events.
Any pics of them in action ???

man i hope that was a practice event, because real solo II events don't have them silly white lines as training wheels guiding you through the course :D

gotta learn how to read the cones!!!!

on a side note, yes that is the most 1st gen Proteges I've EVER seen at an autocross, taking into account that the ONLY 1st gen Protege that I've EVER seen run in an autocross was when Wil ran way back in April (ran like a n00b that he was) last year :D

Unfortunately I couldn't stay long enough to see the first gens run the course :( I wish I could have. The first gens are Davard's, mazdaspeedwest, cablemirc and mine.

Lines...with the number of newcomers we have at each event, you have to have the course lined. And the only SCCA events I've been at that weren't lined were those run in the rain. Even the Nationals in Topeka are lined.

How many newcomers? This event had 348 entrants, and after 100 newcomers, we started turning them away at 9:30am. Otherwise, we would have had 450. And this was Superbowl Sunday.

Oh, and it was about 80 degrees.

I may or may not have won (the Subie with the fastest scratch time thought he hit a cone, and the results take forever to get posted. But, I was 12th in PAX.

And it was a FAST course. How fast? The course was measured at just under a mile long, and my time was 73.043 seconds (48mph avg). The fastest shifter kart ran a 60.842.

The Escort GT (Mexican-made Protege) finished 4th in class, and Darryl (Mazdaspeedwest) finished 6th, in our 30+ car class (not including the 30 STS cars that ran SM in the morning so they could get home in time for the SuperBowl).

And STS (its own run group) started as the sun was setting. Even lines don't help on a dimly lit parking lot at night.

I almost forgot, besides Mazspeedpro's Orange car pictured (which Turboge drove), there were a pair of P5s running. I unfortunately don't remember the owner's names (I am horrible with names and faces).:(
