Just in case anyone is interested, I just got in on a bulk buy for the ZEX N2O kit at ProbeTalk. There might be a little time left to get in on this for $420 shipped if you hurry. Check it out at http://www.probetalk.com/forums/view...268&forum=6&85

Those kits fit our 2.0L pro's?

MP3-Owner October-20th-2001 06:49 PM

Do the kits for the probe's fit the protege's? If so I might get one :) I went to the drag strip last night and this dude was running 150 shot of NOS! Wet setup. I was impressed!

I ordered the kit. Part #82011 fits most late model imports, including our cars. Only Nissan and Ford 5.0L use other specific kits. I know at least one person that had this same kit installed on his '00 Pro from the ProtegeTech board. If you are interested, I suggest you hurry. Ordering info on the bulk buy can be found here: http://www.strictlycoins.com/zex, or more info here: http://www.probetalk.com/forums/view...=6&start=80&85

I'm afraid I won't be buying a N20 kit, yet. I'd love to have one just so I could say I got nitrous but I have no idea what I would do with it:confused: I don't race, there is nowhere to race where I'm from.

Anyway, I thought MP3-Owner may want to know this. I was looking in a car import magazine called HCI and they had an article about how to install a Zex nitrous kit. You may want to hunt this magazine down for yourself. As a plus, it features the APC protege5 on the cover and has an article, which is pretty cool.

Thought you and maybe Eric would want to know.

Thanks for the tip Shawn, do you know which month the article was in? Anyone one else interested in the ZEX bulk buy? It's a great way to test the peformance of your Protege with more power until a turbo kit is available.

Thx for the info. Hey would it be better to do a direct port injection? Any bennefits? I have no experience with n2o.:dunno:

Eric F October-26th-2001 03:43 PM

Only if you wanted to use an extremely large N2O shot, which I wouldn't recommend. A direct port system is more expensive, and more complicated to install. Using N2O is similar to forced induction, you are increasing the pressures in the combustion chamber in order to produce more power. You have to make sure you have enough additional fuel so the engine doesn't run lean. Monitoring the air/fuel ratio would be a good thing also.

C'mon, no one else interested in N2O? We need one more to get this bulk buy finished. $420 shipped is a good price for the ZEX kit, and it's easy to intall.

For real!! I want my kit!! Plz someone like ask momma for some money. hehe :):bt:
