6 disc in dash stereo for sale

I am selling the stereo that came out of my 2003 Protege ES along with DIN removal tools and the installation guide I received from crutchfield. I bought the car on 12/31/02 and took the stereo out in favor of a kenwood on 2/21/03. Visit the auction on ebay for pix and more info.

If for some reason it doesn't sell through this auction I will accept offers...just reply to this post or email me.

Thanks.

Dealer Code

I had a question, I remember a post earlier somewhere about needing a code from the dealer to reactivate the radio once installed.

Does that apply here?

excellent point...i haven't thought of that.

i just called my mazda dealership, and the _parts_ guy said yes you need a code to reactivate the radio...which means you have to bring it into the dealership. then i asked if it has to be in the _same_ car...he said he didn't know and transferred me to the service department. the service department guy said that it shouldn't be a problem, but if there is then they would need the serial code (or VIN i suppose) of my car to get the stereo started again.

all and all i would be more than happy to help get this stereo working in your car.

update

although mazda says you need to bring the vehicle in to reactivate the stereo ....... this evening after having the stereo out of my pro for 19 days i put it back in to see if i really needed a _code_ ... the stereo worked just fine. AM/FM/CD all worked.

i don't know if this is because it's the same radio in the same car...does anyone know if this stereo really will lock out if put into a different vehicle?

I don't know if the factory radio has a code or not but if you had it un powered for over 19 days and it worked again fine, then there is no way its coded. the code, if equipt will appear immedatly after power is reapplied to the unit. There is no logic between the car and radio to know that its in the same car so thats not a possibility either.

Typicaly, at least with Hondas, If it is coded the factory will supply the key code on a laminated card with the owners manual.

I bought a 6cd changer and installed it in my protege
and it worked fine. It did not need a code or anything
Dunno, I guess i was luck;)
but, it is something to keep in consideration
