Is it just me or is every seattle fan claiming that the refs lost the game for them? I had to hear it all day long at work. I personally thought there were some bad calls but it wasn't enough to lose the game for Seattle. They did that on their own in my opinion.

No, it's true, all the Seattle fans are bitching. But the only really bad call seems to be the holding call that brought Seattle back to the 40, although I've only seen one camera angle and it may be that the official saw something else.
The touchdown call could have gone either way, it was so close. If you look very closely at the ball and it's position, it does look as if it crossed the goal line, but it's so close only a superhuman could have seen it in real time.
I think no matter what the official called, it would not have been enough to overturn on the replay evidence.

That said, I may be biased, but the Steelers outplayed the Seahawks in every aspect of the game in the second half. So it's not as though the better team that day didn't win.

I totally agree. controversial calls are just part of the game. No matter how many controversial calls are made, the better team is going to win. Take back the Steelers touchdown and they still would have won. I couldn't belive it, even the steelers head coach openly made a comment which was on ESPN saying "I knew we were showing up to play a tough Pittsburgh team, but I didn't know we were going to have to compete with the refs as well." Are u kidding me! What a sore loser. Don't insult the Steelers by saying they had the game handed to them. The refs didn't somehow make the Seahawks give up a 75 TD run as well as a fleaflicker touchdown pass. They did that on their own!

Bah, it's all bullshite. The Seahawks outplayed the Steelers, and Ben did not cross the line. I've come to terms with that fact that they lost, but it wasn't a fair game in the least bit.

kargoboy February-8th-2006 02:38 PM

Well, look at it this way, the Steelers had two legitimate touchdowns. The 'controversial' touchdown was on third down. So the Steelers would have scored at least 3 points on that drive.
Bad officiating did not cause two missed field goals, receivers making out of bounds catches, or really poor clock management at the end of the first half.
Final amended score 17-10 Pittsburgh.
