WWI Color Pictures
these pictures were originally black and white, but digitally colorized...
thats crazy
^^^^^
yeh I was going to say that. Color pictures were avalible but the equiptment would have run into the thousands of dollars. That would be over 20,000 for the average joes today. I have bought to cameras and I love photography but, I only payed $1500 for my minolta A1. I can't imagine anybody back then buying color cameras. Unless they where Andrew Carnegie or somthing. |
yeah, nice pics but the color scematic is slightly off....but im color blind so.....
Wow, these pics are freaky as hell. I love what the technology can do today!
Go back and check out the web site again. It is actually color photos using a process called Autochrome using potato starch. They used 3 colors to achive the finished product and that is why the color looks a little off.
Wow, thats pretty amazing! Great picture quality for being that old!
crazy even more, looking at them again
in my mind i always pictured the late 1800's and early 1900's as black and white as dumb as i am, it still suprizes me to see U.S. history in color |

Wow. you go through history classes thinking of WWI as just some "war." You see pictures and the black & white takes the realism of the people out of it. That is REALLY freakin cool!
