Wife got her dream job after only 8 years of school.

IT wasn't 100% official just yet but we found out today that my wife will be going to work with the US Secret Service in early January. She was accepted to a program earlier but would have to wait until graduation (late summer 08) before being able to start.

She will be working in fraud investigation (white collar criminology). She's finishing her thesis now and she's already told me that after this summer when she graduates she'll be re-enrolling to get her doctorate. I've never been more proud of a nerd in my life.

Agent Kendra D. Perry-Mullis p.H.d.

sheesh, that's a mouthful.

anywho....we're still looking for a place in the ATL area but I think now we're more interested in building somewhere with some land...kinda like where Barry lives. We'd like 2 acres or so.

KrayzieFox November-27th-2007 11:45 PM

Barry might have neighbors that aren't cows?! Word!!

Congrats there Matt, your wife's gotta be damn smart to have gotten that far. Now just make sure to never do anything behind her back cuz SHE WILL HUNT YOU DOWN!!

Roddimus Prime November-27th-2007 11:51 PM

yeah, she's going to have to take a combat martial art and handgun training. I don't think she'll wear a vest but she says everyone in her office carries.

sumo_Bob November-28th-2007 07:13 AM

Congrats. Just watch out, cause the next time you are fooling around with your wife, she may sink in the triangle. :)

So she's finishing her master's thesis now? Will Uncle Sam pay for her continuing graduate education?

Speaking of nerds...The Latin, Doctor Philosophić, is abbreviated Ph.D. :)

Roddimus Prime November-28th-2007 10:13 AM

yeah, she's still working on finishing up school but I don't think the gov't will pay for her to continue on. Hell, they don't pay for her now because I make too much money. (and I'm white.....sometimes).

Sig worthy?

SteveO November-28th-2007 11:12 AM

Did you ever find out if she has to go through their Academy? I imagine she would if she is going to be in an armed position. She has to go through some type of 12 week + Law Enfocement academy to carry legally per code of AL & USC. (w/o a permit, open)

Congrats though. The Federal Government is great for pay and benefits.

JoshP5 November-28th-2007 11:39 AM

I'd say great for benefits, but decent for pay.

my brother-in-law's wife's mom gets to carry a gun :) (correctional officer)

want me to check around for land in my local area, thats not covered by cows/chicken houses? - I do know where a SWEET house is w/ 10 acres.. but.. umm its $300,000. Also know some land they are splitting up towards Athens, but i think the minimum is 20 acres. I also know that my wife's aunt was selling their house 3000(?) sqft house w/ a basement(can pull a car into it) and a shop and several acres of land $185000 (i *think* they are still selling...)

ok, i'm tired of typing. :crook:

EDIT: aunt's house is like 6 miles or so from I-85

Matty, please give Kendra a big "Congratulations!" from me!

Where is her work actually going to be? If she's going to have to work out of the atlanta area, you REALLY don't want to have her driving from where barry lives and back every day. It's going to be one helluva commute.

Jackelope November-28th-2007 01:41 PM

i'd say move somewhere close to I-85 :) IIRC it was a 45-60 minute drive from my house - > Road Atlanta... (of course, it takes me 20 to get to the interstate)

aMaff November-28th-2007 01:53 PM

so make that a 40 minute best case scenario from road atlanta. That makes it about an hour and a half to atlanta. Again, best case. With traffic in the rush hours, figure close to double that.
