The new Dell commercials SUCK.

Why did they have to get rid of the Dell dude? For the most part, he's the reason I got my Dell. I never really knew about Dells until I started seeing the "Dude" guy in the commercials. They should have kept him. He was better for advertisement. They used him, then dumped him.

 

Maybe the Dude kid dumped DELL ?? cause he wants bigger better things, and $$$$$$$$

That kook's 15 minutes are up and the "interns" suck.
Good thing Dell makes good computers. That's the best advertising of all!

 

I like the intern commercials much better than the Steven commercials, he makes me want to stab his eyeballs with a ice hockey skate.

Have you seen the most recent commercial? He's back with some help from his kid brother. Poor kid.

 

Everyone I've known who's had a Dell never had a problem with any of their hardware. My parents themselves have owned 3 (they still use every one of them). I always tell non-computer people to buy dell. They are leaps and bounds ahead of Compaq/HP, and still much better than Gateway as a whole. When I was still in college, I worked in the IT department part-time and the college has a contract with Gateway. We've had a lot of problems with their hardware, even having to replace motherboards on brand 3 month old PCs.

I build my own PC, but if I were to buy, I'd buy dell.

 

So, you want ease of use and go with Windows. Come on now...

You're probably right, if I HAD to buy prebuilt, I'd go with Dell, but I don't so I build all my own. I also build for my friends and save them some money.

Just because Dell is ahead of other OEMs doesn't mean they make good computers


For the price of a Dell system I can build a much better performer. Oh and it won't use Dell's proprietary everything, so you'd be able to upgrade.

 

For a desktop machine of my own I'll always build them. But I recommend Dell to a lot of people who don't want to build their own machine.

Tell me, what is propriatary about Dell? You can upgrade a Dell desktop just fine. In fact I have a couple right here running Nvidia and ATI video cards, Intel NICs and soundblaster video cards. There isn't much I can't upgrade. Everything that is integrated onto the motherboard can be disabled through the BIOS.

The only Dell I own is a laptop, since I can't really build that myself.

I'm a far cry from a computer genius and my Compaq croaked, so did my mom's Viao (I know, I know Sony sucks the biggie) and my dad's H/P. I have never had a problem with my Dell-aside from Steven.
But if you wanna build me a better computer kba bap, come on over! I live right over the hill, I don't have any cabbage, but in trade, I'll wash your car for ya... J/K

I bought my Dell Server way before he came out in Dell's commercials. Never had a single problem. HP on the other hand have sucked

 

What's proprietary?
Power supplies, cases, mobo's, and I've even seen heat-sinks that had some sort of weird asstastic connectors.

eggynatey, PM me if you're serious. I can build you a very cheap system (read 1.2 Ghz for $350ish) or a very powerful system (read Dual Athlon MP 2600+), depending on how much u wanna spend hehe

 

This doesn't stop you from upgrading most things. Granted moving it into another case isn't EASILY possible, but that certainly doesn't mean you can't upgrade the machine. As far as I know dell motherboards still accept AGP and PCI cards, and use standard RAM/CPUs. Besides moving to another case what can't you do (Obviously overclocking isn't an option)?

I'm not a lover of any Tier one manufacturer, but they do have their place in the market.

Only thing proprietry on my 1999 model is the power supply connectors... and there is a $10 adapter out there....

Nothing built into the motherboard....

I bet this isn't true with the cheaper models though. I have no idea about the new ones but I prefer the vanilla color to black
