v8 miata

i know this is a little off topic,but... does anyone have or know anyone that has or built a v8 miata..if so i would like to pick their brain a little bit ...i know that there are kits available..just want to see if anyone here has done it .....got a 91 miata in the garage with a sheared crank key, just begging for a v8

yeah, a friend of mine locally has a 302 in his miata. It's insanely fast. If you pm me your contact info I'll forward it onto him to get in touch with you.

That'd be cool. Kinda like a modern day AC Cobra, something I've always lusted after. Hafta go Google search on this topic now, you've got my curiousity piqued.

Another thought is to put a rotary in the Miata. If you went with a 13B twin turbo out of a 3rd gen RX-7, or a Renesis out of an RX-8, you'd have 250+ WHP. In a 1300 Lb car that'd be a recipe for insane acceleration and because they're lighter than a V8 you would less disturb the Miata's balance - one of it's better attributes.

like a modern day sunbeam tiger also!

there's a company called monster miata that sells a kit for expressly that purpose. also stacey david has a project on his ESPN2 tv show Gearz that is taking a small block ford V8 in a 92 (i think) miata.

Why bother with a swap? You can get those numbers by turboing it. Tons of people have already done it, including my undergraduate mathematics advisor. Check out flyinmiata.com, for example.

Also, you won't find many Miatas stripped to below 2000lbs.

why not just a 20b while ur at it?? lol
3 rotor... mmmmm

_Kansei_ June-28th-2007 02:31 PM

you got me excited just by mentioning a 3-rotor. If I had a RWD car, no doubt I'd go for a 3-rotor swap if I had the money. Yeah they waste gas like crazy and are very expensive and difficult to track down compared to the 13b, but the beautiful noise they make is worth every penny.

i talked to a guy with a miata at my auto x event last night and he said that you could drop an older mustang 5.0 engine right in there
