stupid questions, but:

ok, i know that the guy buys the ring when he proposes to a girl, does he also buy his own?!

does he buy it at the same time he buys his fiancé's? or do he buy it later?

are the rings the same ones used at the wedding?

thanks.

and no, i'm not getting married - i don't even have a girlfriend yet :p

Nope, those would be the wedding rings... that's right man, 2 rings for the little lady!!! Then there's anniversaries... and so on, and so on....

When you propose:
You buy HER a ring (engagement ring) with a diamond (the bigger the better, for her... the bigger the worse, for our wallets)

When you are going to get married:
You buy two more rings (wedding rings), one for you and one for her. I know my wife wanted to have a ring that would match the one I gave her for our engagement.

I guess the wedding rings can be chosen together... depending on what you want. But the engagement ring (in my opinion) should be a surprise. The more elaborate the better.

I had a whole evening planned four our three year dating anniversary... dinner, roses, champagne, music, special table at a great restaurant... in the end I gave her a CD-case which "misteriously appeared" on the table (I had a waiter place it when she was not looking).

I wanted her to think "What?... He got me a CD?" when she saw the shape of the present... but when she opened it, the ring was stuck on the little round pegs that hold the CDs in place, and I had written "Will you marry me" on the area where the CD would have been. The actual CD that would go in the case was the one we were listening to during dinner.

LOS, that is pretty good. Very romantic, like a movie ;)

I wasn't that classy when I proposed. We decided our wedding date 3 months before I proposed to boot.....You got me beat for sure!

There are three rings to a marriage:

The Engagement Ring
The Wedding Ring
The Suffering

You just keep paying and paying and paying and paying..........
If only the 2 rings were the only thing you had to buy......

"I am" is the shortest sentence in the English language. "I do" is the longest sentence.

Thanks. She still tells the story to people that ask how we got married. My wife is also the daughter of one of my mom´s best friends, so people tease us sometimes saying that my mom and hers got together and planned the whole thing out.

So how do you figure out her ring size?

Ask her best friend to find out for you... assuming you can trust her not to give the surprise away, of course. Her best friend could probably find that out without making her suspicious.

If that is not possible, then just take one of her rings (one that you know fits right, or that she wears very often), and try it on your fingers. See how far it will go down your finger (or perhaps there is a finger where it will fit perfectly... like your pinky).

Then go to the jewelry store, and look for a ring (any ring will do) that will fit as far as hers did... then just measure that one with the jewelry store´s ring-ruler (or whatever those things are called). Now you have a fairly accurate measure.

After all, you can always readjust it afterwards. The engagement ring I got for my wife wasn´t an exact fit at first, but now it is. Funny thing is, that she hasn´t lost or gained weight... she still weighs the same but the ring fits different. So don´t worry too much about getting an exact measurement.
