Strangest turbo system?

This has got to be the most oddly designed turbo system I've seen in a while. The car is a 93+ Camaro.

You can read more about it here.

Personally, this has got to be the most convoluted turbo plumbing routing I've seen since the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt (a WWII fighter plane), but I don't really count aircraft. :)

What do y'all think?

going for the stealth look under the hood??

I used to own an LT1 Trans Am, and that's pretty ridiculous.

You could probably get more power (not to mention a smoother deliverly of that power) with a good cam, head work, and good exhaust kit for the same price.

Run over one piece of debris on the highway, and that turbocharger is toast.

that is sooo retarded. The whole point of keeping the turbo in the engine bay is to limit the distance the charged air has to travel. The damn thing is prolly using more than half its pumping potential just to get the air 15 feet to the intake. Not to mention how much of the exhaust charge is killed in transit as well. Man it just goes to show that some people are too stupid for their own good.

It's like gettin a heart transplant but putting the thing on the outside of your foot. :bonk:

I thought for sure that was a Photoshop job until I read that link. I know those things are pretty tight for space under the hood, but that's ridiculous. Is that the air filter behind the wheel, right where it's going to get splashed/dusty/rocks thrown at it?

Apparently it actually works, but it sure looks silly.
