Still Grounded

Man, why can Mom's be such bitches sometimes... I mean, I'm STILL grounded from my car except for work because of last week, but I think this is going a little too far. I've had to hitch rides to school all week from the people I usually bust in with me! I feel like such a bum and my Pro doesn't get the attention she deserves!

I'm heading to a car show after school with my Dad, and then tonight I'm allowed to go out (with my car finally!) to the woman's house, but I have to be home by 10:00! Like, could I be getting the shaft any more?

Whatever, I suppose it's better than not being able to go out at all...

Thanks for letting me vent!

protetype Mar 14, 2003 11:19 AM

that'll teach ya to play hookie and get freaky nasty on ya mommas couch :p

GOBLUES Mar 14, 2003 11:51 AM

I'm guessing Mom pays the bills on the car?? If that's the case... consider this a lesson learned!! I can't speak from experience as I had it pretty easy growing up... I also had to pay all the bills though!!

tonkabui Mar 14, 2003 12:18 PM

i'm sorry, i don't know the story behind why you got grounded, but if protetype is rght, this has got to be one of the funniest things i have read! is this something like what really happened?

cut school, come home, get it on with the girly on the couch, get caught by mom, mom takes car for a week and imposes a curfew.

gosh, i miss high school days. sounds like what i did. except my dad walked in on us while i was :inthebum: worst part is, my parents and her parents are friends at church. let's just say it was quite an awkward situation when we would hang out at church.

Shit man....My GF's 16 yr-old cousin rolled her '02 Jetta (2.slow) b/c she was speeding and had to swerve to miss a car, so her parents bought her ANOTHER Jetta!!

To top that off, they bought the girl's 15-yr old sister (she just turned 16 now...) a brand-new Jetta as well!

Spoiled damn kids...

However, I know Nick works and appreciates his Pro5.

Sorry, can't say I feel a bit of sympathy for you.

The car isn't technically yours, so why are you whining about getting it taken away?

I don't know you personally so I don't have a right to say much, but when I have kids, i sure as hell am not going to spoon-feed them by giving them $20,000 cars free.

Having the kid pay for his own car teaches discipline and helps them learn the true value of money and how to work for something. And when they pay for that car, they not only feel like they accomplished something, they also feel a bond to the ownership of that car.

All too often do I see these high school kids with their new 2003 celica's wrecking them on a side road going 70mph in a 30mph zone b/c they suck at driving and don't give a shit about the car. Or they just don't maintain it and the transmission or engine explodes after 10k miles.

Is he right Nick????

I agree with Mike. I know Nick does, so he can vent all he wants.

yeah but he's still wrong cutting class so he can make out with his GF at home

punishment is deserved, bitching ain't gonna help :p

In his defense, who is going to say no to a brand new car at 17? So his parents want him to have a safe realible car, I hope I can do it for my girl when she grows up. As long as he is pulling good grades and working then he deserves it. Now if he was a fuck up then he should take the bus.

And for skipping school I think you got off easy. Right now school is more important then getting a little nookie . I can honestly say I never skipped school and never wanted to. And its not cause I was a good student, cause I wasn't , I just had too much respect for my mother and father and my teachers.

Same with me, I never skipped school, but back then if I did I would've got grounded litteraly, as in I'd become a plant....

I took the bus for 7 years when I moved to Canada since my family didn't have a car. After my middle school grad I had to take the bus home when everyone else had their parents waiting for them. I've even walked two hours home for a week straight when I lost my bus pass. Nothing wrong with the bus :)

NoahsMP5 Mar 14, 2003 06:56 PM

I didn't get my car until after school, so I had to walk a mile to school. And with Vermont winters that sucked. But I sure as hell appreciated my car when I got it.

To set the record straight, I work. I work my ass off. I pay for the car (monthly payments of about $400 CAD) I pay for the insurance ($300 per month) and I pay for gas. (About another $180 per month the way things are now.) So I have the right to bitch. Mike and Dion know me, so in Gro's defence, he didn't know any better.

I work my ass off for my car, and barely get by with it. I mean, I'm making about $900-$1000 a month, so I'm not left with much. But, I choose to have a nice car, and I'm not bitching about that, but I am trying to stress the point that while I may not have any other expenses like housing, food, etc. I work just as hard as any other Joe (be them 15 or 50 years old) and I think I deserve a little more respect than I'm geting.

Geez, what's a kid to do!

Hey no one deserves respect that is something that should be earned. which in your case nick i think your doing it. so bitch away man...lol ;) b/c i mostly likely would be. good thing my parents never grounded me. well they tried but never succeeded. :D

ZoomZoomH Mar 15, 2003 12:53 AM

so you think just because you can afford your own car that you shouldn't get punished for cutting class, and then got caught making out with gf at home????? give me a fucking break

mixmaster_matt Mar 15, 2003 09:11 AM

Well I say they should have punished you in another way. I pay for my car and insurance, and am under my own insurance. My parents could never take the car away from me, because it is mine. THey are not contributing to it so they can't take it away. Now if they said I couldn't go out, not that they would say that anymore, then I would listen. But they ain't touching the car. And I agree with Gro, everyone's first car should be a starter car. My first was given to me, but it was a 1987 Chevy Celebrity. That thing was a beast and I loved it, but if I ever got in an accident at least I didn't crash a 20K car. Enought talking, i gotta get back to work.
