so i got a mitsu a while back for 102$ on ebay, missing the engine. found one with around the same mileage, 378 after taxes. got the ECU for it at 25$.

sold it for 2100.

bah-zing! now im in the prowl for a 83 RX7 that a guy in NY is holding for me for 575, restored 12a, restored transmission/drivetrain/suspension/brakes. only thing is the front clip needs to be aligned and a dent knocked out.

also looking at a 79 datsun 210.
god i love old cars.

Stueck Oct 18, 2006 08:42 PM

kargoboy Oct 19, 2006 08:50 AM

Get the 210!

Jackelope Oct 19, 2006 08:55 AM

car buying guru, eh? how bout buying mine, :)

eggynatey Oct 19, 2006 10:35 AM

Teh 7 can't lose!

Roddimus Prime Oct 19, 2006 12:10 PM

you know me. I'm partial to rotaries. Imagine how much easier it will be getting repiar parts for an rx7 as opposed to a 210.

p.s. I hope to post pics of my new car as well shortly. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Next week I'll know for sure.

[QUOTE=Imagine how much easier it will be getting repiar parts for an rx7 as opposed to a 210. [/QUOTE]

That's part of the charm.

Seriously, I love Mazda but if I found a 510 or a 210 in pretty good shape I just don't think I could resist.

Roddimus Prime Oct 19, 2006 06:25 PM

yeah...give it about 10 minutes and Natey will have a prestine 510 sitting in his drive!

Stueck Oct 19, 2006 09:37 PM

I want a 510 so bad, corvette rear end and all. but the 210 is from canada, so im more worried about the rust, since its a unibody and no rustproofing. :(

but for 300-500, im thinking about puting antique insurance for like a grand on it, so incase i am going down a highway and it decides to split in half on me, i can get somehting out of it :p

sell it to me for under 1000$, and you got a buyer :p

Roddimus Prime Oct 19, 2006 09:52 PM

why not put that $1k down on a MS6 lease and have yourself a nice reliable car for $330-ish a month?

A thousand dollar car is a thousand dollar car. You get what you pay for. One of my employees had a ZX2 escort with a hit in the door and front fender...his window glass was broken and the car would get rained in. He got a quote for $600 to fix it all (just fix, no paint)...instead he sold the car for $400 and bought a 92 eclipse. He's since put almost $600 in the eclipse only to have the motor die completely on him this week. Because of his numerous tardies and car problems he'll probably lose his job.

If he had just kept the escort and put the $600 into fixing it he'd have a nice reliable car to get his dumbass back and forth to work.

morale of the story: Sometimes it's better to spend a little more upfront to keep from having problems in the future.

kinda hard to spend 330ish a month while saving to move out, plus a 185$ protege payment a month,. and 1015$ every 6 months for insurance :p

plus i just love older cars. i always find a way to make a quick buck off of them, being fixxer upper or part it out.

Jackelope Oct 20, 2006 05:56 AM

$1000 every 6 months? my msp is only $1200/yr full coverage.

i owe just a wee bit more than $1000 :P
