Well I just took some pics of the build up of snow that we had. There was a snow storm on sunday night that lasted till monday night, and man was it a storm , we got anywhere from 6-12 inches of snow , wich made driving a real bitc@, I just have to thank god for getting me through this safely , cause I was out there working, I had to work 16 hours on sunday and 16 hours on monday and 9 on tuesday , I did not even get to come home, the protege was at work under the building ,nicely protected from the snow.. anyhow . I had the jeep cherokee , and I have to admit the 4x4's frigin own the road man. with all that snow and stuff , about 8" in some places, that cherokee was going through the snow like no big deal , god forbid if I had a 2 wheel drive , i would have been stuck everywhere.. We have 2 trucks , a explorer and a cherokee and they both rock .... anyhow I had to transport people basically all day long .. man was I tired anyway check this out ok .....

My roomates del sol was tottally under snow. There were people snowblowing more snow on top of his car because they thought it was just a snowbank. My protege had snow up to the roof but i tryed to keep some of it visable so the plows could see and not ram it. i wish i had pics. The snowblowers helped get the delsol out because they felt bad ...Jon

I'll add some to the mix, seeing as how I'm in "downstate" NY also (Long Island):

A walkway at my apartment complex (camera was low - it's deep but not THAT deep!):

Snow on a peaked rooftop:

And my P5 after 3 hours of digging out. I had tried the night before too, but I had to skip work Tuesday because I couldn't get my car out - wish I had a before pic, but my car looked a lot like the one to the left of mine - buried:

Were is my car dude.

That’s what I said. My car well the whole lot was gone.
Nobody’s car was there. Well it was under a 4 foot drift.
Open my door looked down the stairs and half were gone too.
So took me 2 hrs to get to the places were the car was.
Then took another 4 hrs to get to the front. Of the walk way.
Then I said AAAAAHHHHHHHHH. Hit the alarm and dug to the sound LOL.....

We got around 40" here in Frostburg, MD.

too bad i don't have my digicam cable, you'll see the snowbanks are over your head. My festiva was totally completely covered, couldn't even see the mirrors.

Yeah - you guys in MD got slammed BAD - I heard reports of 49 inches in a few places - DAMN!

But 24-30 inches is still a helluva snow anywhere east of the Great Lakes, and not in the mountains.

Now they're expecting some good soaking rain here for Saturday - gonna melt the snow, and flood the hell outta the streets.

I can't FUCKING WAIT for this winter to be over - between the snow and the COLD, it's been rough. I just keep dreaming of fluke fishing off the docks, going to the beach, and hitting the par 3 pitch & putt course.

Soon......soon.

You and me both. Its been a long and cold winter. I've found it to be way colder than last year. Damn crappy weather.

Oh yeah - Bruce - just really READ your post ;)

The 4x4s DO rule in this shit. Once every five years, I wish I had a truck - good thing my wife has the Cherokee. As you seem to well know - they are BEASTS in the snow.

We took hers out during the "height" of the storm, just to fuck around. Went to a local State Park - one that has a HUGE parking lot with NO poles, lights - just wide open blacktop (obviously, I've had my own fun there plenty of times).

During snow like this, they basically just plow a "track" around the outer edge of the lot, and leave the middle unplowed. We were TROUNCING through snow higher than the bumper. I opened the window, and we were driving right through stuff well over 75% the height of the wheels - at least 16-18 inches of fresh snow I'd estimate. Every so often, we had to get out and clear the grille so the air could keep flowing.

Also HAD to bash through some banks, too - stuff over the hood. That was damn fun - totally blind for a few secs before the wipers cleared the snow from the windshield.

It's nice knowing my wife will never call me with the "I'm stuck" voice. I'd hate to drive one every day, but it's great to have access to a REAL SUV (not some wannabe-ute, or a same-as-my-protege-ground-clearance Explorer).

Jeeps OWN the snow.
