are they worth it? Do they make you stop any faster?

I also have this on my list of new purchases. My brakes are feeling a little mushy lately and I need the stiff pedal and quick stopping ability to slow me down from those 140mph runs!

I'm slowly regaining my composure after what happened..but I'd be interested in this for sure.:bt:

Here is my .02 on braided brake lines.

They are great if you are doing road race or alot of auto X but just for regular every day driving or the occasional stop light drag i would just leave them stock and use the money you just saved on more gas or beer if your old enough to drink.:D

Changing your brake fluid to a higher temp version is a good idea and keeping it fresh (flushing yearly) so moisture doesnt set in is also good. A really good brake fluid is ATE blue. I use this in my M3 and the boiling point is really high. The Motul 600 is good also.

The ATE has a wet boiling point of 536. Not sure what the motul 600 is (600??? that would be kool) because i only use the ATE blue. I like it because its easier to see when flushing/bleeding the system.

Personally, I love the improved brake feel you get with steel braided lines and well bled hydrolic system. It makes your foot feel more directly connected to the brakes. Motul and ATE both make excellent non synthetic fluid. For those of you that have replaced the fluid in your cars equipped with ABS, did you do anything special to evacuate all the fluid in the ABS mechanism?

No word on pricing yet, but it will be available for all Generation Proteges and P5, DX, LX, ES, SE....

Prices should be fairly reasonable but I'm not sure how much of a discount it will be, should be at least 5-10%.

Talking of ABS, is it true that you should not allow the brake fluid to flow back into the reservoir when replacing brake pads on ABS equipped cars? Something about sediment possibly fouling up mesh screens in the ABS unit??

Is that group buy still on? I want in!

i think i need to chime in here on this one, becauses i am seeing a lot of talk about ABS equipped cars. you do NOT want to install steel braided line on an ABS equipped car. it will cause too much vibrations in the system and will shorten the life of your ABS system. on a non-ABS car, steel lines are a good upgrade because of the increase feel and control. on an ABS car you don't need them because the ABS system keeps your tires from locking up already.

Just my 2 cents .. use the ATE fluid over the Valvoline synthetic... I have used both in My RX7 and the ATE has a much much better feel... The Valvoline gives the brakes a squishier feel...
