The RX-8 is finally Here!!!!
 

Begining last friday (7-11 go figure) the RX-8 preorders, (currently only 1st allocation. 2nd and 3rd allocations to arrive within the next 3-5 weeks) have arrived. The return of the wankel rotary is here in the form of the 1.3L (really 2.6L) Renesis Rotary. Considering the lower production numbers this year and approxiamtely 30k sold in next year, there will be roughly one rx-8 for every 25 or so other cars on the road. That means they will truly be a rare sight.

This week will represent the bulk of the rx-8 preorders being delivered. i don't know about you guys but i've been waiting almost 8 years since the last rx-7 (FD chassis) and it's soo worth the wait. If you guys wanna chat with some rotary fanatics jump on the http://www.rx8forum.com site now.

that video was shot by a guy who very james bond like hung around the port for days. His name was 3rotor. He's also the first person to take delivery of the 8

but man i'm drooling

even tho i really prefer the FD, and even the FC, over the FE (yeah the vin on the RX-8 has FE on it... ) i styll like the return of the wankel, time for the rotaries to dominate

and all the companies to drop out of the rotaries development back all those decades ago.... will be like DAMN, the rotary was the way to go.... and mazda knew this whole time hehe :D

it would be soo awesome, if all of mazdas line up had a rotary powerplant, and they still the only company to develop rotary engines.... damn makes me :drool:

imagine our pros with a small light weight, 1.3L renesis.... pushing 250hp.... damn

maybe they'll turn down the power a bit, maybe makin it alot more reliable...

it's definately a dream since mazda will not put the Renesis in a non sports car. But look on the bright side, there are plans for the rx-7's resurrection in 2006. It will have the Renesis in it that will supposedly be beefed to b/w 300-350 hp. Now imagine a true sportscar like the FD pullin 350 NA hp.

man 350hp NA, is almost coming upto what the 3 rotor does NA

If mazda can push as much hp out of the renesis, as they can with the 20B, den i'd be surprised, then u know they are leaping ahead in the rotaries design, and i just can't wait

I don't mind some of the concept cars people have made, but if it was upto me

FD chassis, with the renesis would be absolutely perfect!!!


now imagine they can reach 26B potential with the renesis NA

but if u ask me, they should have a NA model of the renesis in the RX-7, and a FI (turboed) model (probably a higher end model with more options and stuff)

haha i just dunno, when i start thinking of the nex gen RX-7, y mind goes all kiddish, and i can't think staright hehe

order one months ago or order one know and wait 2-3 months. There are some (but few) 8's that were bought as preorders by the dealers after customer pre-orders were satisfied. But expect to pay anywhere from $3k - $10k above msrp to have one. In the fall mazda is releasing a huge rx-8 advertizing campaign so the price should be back doen to msrp or even lower by that time.
