replacement car?

what would be a good replacement car for a protege? How do some of other 4 cylinder models hold up, like Sunfire or maybe Neon? or a Saturn?

My question for you is. Why would you replace a car like the Protege? :wtf:

when i was shopping, in this power and price range, there was nothing that even came close to catching my attention.

Check out a new Sentra SE-R SpecV, or even a few year old 200sx or sentra SE-R, they are all great cars, very well tuned and powerful!

but im biased too :D

stay in japan dude, sunfire and cavaliers suck quality wise, and we all know how mopar is too! ahhhh

SEA_P5 October-10th-2002 10:18 PM

My main concern with the SE-R is the amount of oil that car burns. Before I purchased the P5 I was interested in the SE-R, but from reading their forum they all had the same problem of the vehicle burning large quantities of oil...one person stated that for the vehicle's engine case to seal well, that the engine had to burn a quart of oil...a brand new vehicle burning a whole quart of oil...I don't think so...Also with the more aged SE-R, oil leaks seem to be quite prevailent...(not dissing on SE-R, just my opinion)

If you are looking for a good reliable car besides the protege...go for the celica...if you are worried about cost go for the corollas...

5SpeedP5 October-10th-2002 10:22 PM

lol, dont know your sources, but all se-rs ive incountered havent burnt oil, i mean even 120k+engines, well mine has 42k, so it shouldnt, but the SR20DE (and det) engines are great, and rarely will burn oil, these are in the pre-specv se-rs. now the new se-r spec vs with the QR25DE engine, well they tend to burn oil while breaking in (break in period to be safe is 5-10k miles) but after 5-10k miles it will end, its just part of the seals being seated i guess. the new engine is funky, but hey its still good (not a SR20 though :D )

join us a sr20deforum.com to learn more about SE-RS!!

or just email or pm me.

I'll probably get flames for this but how about an Hyundai Elantra? I have the sedan and I love it. Get the five speed with four wheel disk. They have more horsepower standard than a Protege. I got mine out the door for $11,900. That's with CD, Keyless, and comes standard with side airbags.

5SpeedP5 October-11th-2002 05:58 PM

the elantra gt actually looks pretty good, hyundai seems to be doin better lately.... stil blah though, i wouldnt find my self in one
