PT.com for sale

Due to a lack of funds and many other things I have decided to discontinue services to Protegetech.com Effective 1Jan03 . My hope is that some one or a group of folks would be interested in carrying it on, however I know that it may just not be possible. It has been a fun ride to see all this get going and that we had a small part in it. Congrats to all the new Protege folks out there. Carry the flame on with the mazda3.

Its been a fun 3 years, but it is time to move on. As of 1Dec I no longer own a Protege.

See you all on the road.

Pirana December-5th-2002 06:32 PM

Lots good info. But with so many pop-ads I could not come back for more.

Good luck.

Yeah, the pop up ads were kinda crazy:laugh:, but I'm really sorry the site had to go.

This has me thinkin; How much does it usually cost to run a website? Is it really expensive? Does a take a whole lot of time?

This is a big loss for alot of people. It was that site where I discovered there was actually and aftermarket for the Protege. It was actually a year ago tomorrow that I discovered the site and the yahoo group. The more I've learned from your site, as well as the group, this site and others, the more I realize just how much more there is to learn. I really hope that someone decides to take over Protegetech and keep it alive.

Same here. I never knew that the protege had aftermarket parts until I found protegeclub early last year. I'm going to miss it.

It depends on how and where you host it. You could run all of the HTML stuff off of a freebie hosting service like Geocities. The forum is going to be the expensive thing to run. You will need a server to run it off of (probably something fast if it gets a lot of traffic). If you are interested in trying to work on it maybe I can find a way to help. I will have an extra computer finished soon that should be high availability that can serve it. But I'm not real keen on sitting down coding all that damn HTML. The pop-ups should pay for the DNS entry and maybe even static IP's so money wouldn't be too big of a problem if the site has lots of traffic and good click-thru rates.
