Well, it finally clicked over 100,012miles at last glance.

and ya know what, calculated over an 11 year period, thats less the 10k a year!!!!!!!

Hey that is low. I have put 5k on in the last couple of months. Mine is sitting at 131,000 or close to it.

it sat for 2 years when i was travelling.....

dammm .. mine is on 87,000 km ....(54,000 miles)
and its a '90 .....

bit then i only travel 2 km to work each day ........:D

I am already at 112,000 and have changed those damn CV boots three or four times.

Hehehehehe, me too....i am actually in need of changing the passenger side NOW!! i started hearing a clunk evey now and then....i looked at it the other day....there ain't a lick of grease in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have a boot thats shot. but i have looked at the joint. It has alot of grease in there still. and its not making any noise. anyone ever use those two peice boot kits. are they any good? also i miss informed you on my mileage. its 132,400 miles.

NO they suck!!!! although they are cheaper and MUCH easier to install. The glue nevers seals for very long.

I remember that happening in my 1990 LX. About 6 1/2 years ago! Slowed down these last 3 years (got another daily driver), so I only have 176k miles on it now. Many were gained on an autocross course over the last 11 1/2 years.

I've owned it since it was new in Jan. of 1990.

Mine was built in Jan of 1990 as well, owned since Aug, 1990. It was 4 months used...

Other than those stupid plastic thrust washers in the front suspension, which I replace about every other year, and I'm on my fourth set of struts. Mostly, it's been preventative maintenance.

I replaced the boots at about 70k, and did the halfshafts at 132k when the boots ripped again, after being told that 100k was the average halfshaft lifespan. And one defective boot on the replacement halfshaft I replaced at 160k.

I did the front wheel bearings when I did the halfshafts (figured it was better than waiting for them to fail).

And the alternator had a bad bearing at 170k, and I replaced it. It still worked, but I was planning on going on vacation, and didn't want it to fail in the middle of nowhere.

The AC compressor has been making a bad noise for a while, but it still works.

I did lose my water pump belt while hot lapping, which I didn't discover until a lap later when I spun on my own coolant. The car was fine. The driver was an idiot. After replacing the belt, the car has run fine (for the last 2+ years).

The rear brakes lasted 150k. The fronts about 130k. After my fourth time hot lapping (for a total of about 400 miles at Buttonwillow, which is murder on brakes, I replaced the front Metal Master pads with Auto Zone pads, which worked OK, but were impossible to modulate at autocross speeds, so I changed to Hawk HPS, which I'm pretty happy with.

I had to replace the Cat and downpipe (cracked at the weld) at 150k to pass CA emissions (I was barely over).

Nothing has ever left me stranded other than running out of gas (once) 1/4 mile (uphill) from the gas station, and the aforementioned broken water pump belt. I use about 1/2 qt. of oil between changes (6 mo. or 3k miles).

Oh, and I've gone through a few tires. I'm on my 21st set, all different except for two sets of Dunlop SP8000s, and I'm due for a 22nd set soon.

BTW, my car was made in 12/89, and purchased in 1/90.

The ZX2 berings are metal and sure look like they'd last much longer...although a slight mod is needed to fit them in. It's in my how-to section on my site if your interested. The mod is to the upper strut mount, not the struts. although if you don't use the ZX2 struts or atleast a 22mm shafted strut, they are useless to you.....

The Mazdaspeed struts I use have the same 19mm shaft as the plastic thrust washers. I'm planning on moving to camber plates and coil-overs over X-mas, so I won't have to deal with the stupid things any longer.:)
