outlook express running in background
anyone know how to "close" outlook so it doesnt sit in the taskbar, but instead sits in the system tray?

Are you trying to remove it from the QuikLaunch bar? (Next to start button.)

Its not that its running in the task bar, you get that icon when new mail comes in and you have it minimized then when you close down express that stupid envelope lookin icon stays there. If your running 2K/XP go into task man and kill msimn.exe....

what he wants to do is make it minimize to the system tray instead of the task bar so he can have it running in the backround and be unobtrusive
I don't think outlook express can do this or even outlook why dont you just close it and open it when you need? I checked and it uses like 20 megs of ram while its running which is a lot for just an email program |
In outlook (full) you can add a Dword key called "MinToTray" here with a value of 1
it'll then minimize to the systray.... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\O utlook\Preferences |
cool, works well :)
