"Ong Bak: Muay Thai Warrior"
Holy crap what an awesome movie. Don't expect great acting or a good plot or character development though. Just imagine a 20-something Jackie Chan on the purest cocaine ever! This guy Tony Jaa ROCKS! He took the martial arts film industry and turns it on it's ear. Not many Thai movies and the ones that are out suck hard. This guy is badass. He's here to stay for a while. :fight:

that looks friggen awsome
That looks pretty intense! He does some sweet stuff!
no stunt men, no wires, no special effects. You guys have REALLY got to see it to see how crazy some of his stuff is. The opening scene was PAINFUL to watch!
"no special effects"... there are some, quite a few actually, like when he jumped and ran over the heads/shoulders of the mob crowd...
but never mind, that small guy knows how to move 8) |
uh, that was all real dude....the only special effect I saw was when his eyes turned into fire....he really did that running on shoulders. watch it in slow motion and you'll see what I mean.
ah, there were some smaller tricks, no big stuff actually, but visible to the observant viewer :smoke:
- they showed it in slow motion and i don't consider that as real because the physical reaction of the people he ran over was basically missing (location 0:40m:27s). if someone with like 70-75kg puts his whole weight on your shoulders so suddenly you get pushed down. i guess he had some small strings attached so he didnt have to put his whole bodyweight onto the guys. (besides the fact that quick 2 steps are not enough to gain so much speed/dynamics you can jump from the floor onto the head of a standing man) - furthermore i saw some "actors" replaced by stuntmen in fighting scenes... the most obvious one was the fighter with the poodle haircut and the fast footwork... whenever there was some severe hitting, he was replaced by a guy who was a little smaller and chubbier than the original guy (face was also different)... |

we'll have to agree to disagree here....i've seen someone stand perfectly still and jump over a 5' guy before. - furthermore i saw some "actors" replaced by stuntmen in fighting scenes[QUOTE] uh huh....i just said that Tony Jaa did all his own stunts.....like Jackie chan. I'm sure the other actors had stunt doubles. The worst example I saw was when the fat guy with blonde hair jumped out the window on the guy with the motorcycle...it looked like he was wearing a blonde helmet. |
Sounds like some kind of Pho dish...
Ong Bak...on DVD...holla.
just watched the movie, pretty sweet action, not a lot of story. nice spiritual ending. i had a few classes in college with a girl who was the splitting image of the main chick in the movie. she was thai too, though her voice wasnt nearly as annoying as the actress! ^_^
yeah, I thought she was cute but it was just easier to watch the movie on mute.....like a brittney spears video!
HAHAHaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHa!!!!!!!!!!!
