Oil Drain Plug for VW Beetle
 

Hi, my friend drives a VW new Beetle.
He wants to learn how to change oil himself.
We were trying to do that today cause I have been changing oil for my own Corolla for a few times and I thought I could kind of give him some tips.
However, the stupid Beetle he drives doesn't even provide any instruction manual to tell you where the drain plug is. All it says is just tell you to take the car to dealer for oil change.
We also tried some searching on the Internet but have gotten no luck.
Unlike my Corolla and my Protege, which have tons of sites on the internet showing you in detail instruction about how to change the oil, it seems impossible to dig up any site that tells you in great details how to do it.
We tried to search on some online Beetle club forum too, but seem Beetle owners just don't change their own oil or bother to do any self-maintance for their car.
Does anyone know where the oil drain plug is? Or know any site that show you how to change oil for Beetle?

i know german cars like to be different, but i'm sure if you find the oilpan, you'll find a drain plug.

I see something simular, but not sure if it is the oil pan or not.
There is a silver/steel color lug there but very much different than my Corolla.
Instead of a HEX shape lug, it's a round shape lug with a very tiny HEX shape hole in the middle of it.

I know on some Mercedes you need to take off the heat-shield to get to the drain plug. The dealers use some kind of pump to get the oil out instead

Not to sound flippant, but if you guys don't know the difference between a standard bolt and an Allen bolt maybe you shouldn't be messing with things.:p

I'm sorry for that. The best advice would be to get a Haynes (or better yet a Bently) manual at an auto parts store. They will have good instruction on changing the oil and finding the oil pan, etc.
