New VW GTI commercials

Anyone else getting a kick out of the new GTI commercials? They are using a character actor (can't recall his name, usually plays a Russian bad guy) and a blonde Germanic type. I have seen three so far, each is more over-the-top than the last. First one had some guy with a riced out car with the word "Flame" on his windshield, the blonde rips off the F to make it "Lame". They drop a GTI in a cage on top of his, crushing it. Second one has something with a hood scoop, they whang it with a wrecking ball. Latest one I saw was something (I think it might have been a Scion, didn't get a clear look) with a big rear wing. Blonde says it looks like it could fly, so they hook it up to a ballista and fling it away! I love an ad agency with a great sense of humor! :yelrotflm

I like the "un-pimp my ride" angle. It's some pretty broad stereotyping, funny nonetheless...

I love the way the guy says "un-pimp da auto" in the last one.

Oh snap..

I love the fact VW is trying to act like their 200bhp car is fast. It looks great from the outside. The inside is a pile of crap and it's slow as hell. $25K, no thanks. I'll take an MS3 for $23K and smoke the crap out of that.

Yeah, VW interiors are a major disappointment. They're seem really high-grade at first, but then the steering wheel delaminates and the color comes off all the vinyl and the centers of the push-buttons break out. Crap-ola. My friend has an 02 golf her husband takes impeccable care of, and the interior still looks like ass. My 02 p5 looks pristine in comparison and I only vacuum when the mood strikes me.

my wifes beetle is holding up surprisingly well. We haven't had it long but it's got almost 18K miles on it and it's a champ. The TDi is the way to go.

I wish Mazda would bring some of Ford's CMax vehicles over here. I'd buy another VW TDi if I ever needed a great D.d.

Before I bought the used p5, I was seriously looking at Golf TDIs. I'm scared of VW build quality (told a car salesman the same). I wish the asian marks would bring their diesels to the US market (apparently they sell well in Europe), I would buy one with a quickness. (Several years used, that is...) My homey in Switzerland has a (gasoline) VW polo, rode to Lausanne in whiteout snow in it, that car is so much better than the US-market Golfs, don't understand why they can't get it right here.

"made in mexico"....end of discussion

in europe you can get no less than 19 different versions of the Ford Focus...3 differen't diesel models. I've been seriously comtemplating buying a used focus as a beater...but I don't trust myself not to tear into it,

haha!
Oh Shnap!
hahaha, I love those commercials.

I would love to get paid money to do that all day, now next thing we know people will be doing the "VW" with their hands

commercials are great but the cars aren't. the euro spec rides actually have a lower stance because the us spec cars had to be raised to meet minimum bumper height. its getting a lot of praise in europe, but they have a much bigger appreciation for small hatches over there and they already have the new markV r32 too.

the actor in the commercails is Peter Stormare, you can see him in pretty much any bruckheimer/simpson film hehe (bad boys, armageddon, etc).

Best commercials I have seen in a long time.

Those cars they trashed deserved it with their hideous paint job, and did anyone notice that the drivers dressed the same as the cars, ex. the blue focus driver had blue denim jacket and jeans, the hot pink and yellow eclipse driver had a pink and yellow tee-shirt.

the second best car commercial in the past decade was the mitsubishi commercial when the lancer first came out (not evo)... the two guys lined up next to each other "whoo-ing" and "yeah-ing" and the camera pans back and they're on the salesroom floor.

p.s. the mitsubishi dealer here in birmingham went under....go figure...also Chrysler sold ALL of their mitsu shares...way to go.
