New to the board!

Hey gang, just thought id intro myself... my names Scott, I live in London, ON, Canada...
I currently have a Midnite blue, 5-spd P5 with a sunroof and AC, no mods (yet) other than a sunroof deflector. Prior to this car, i had a silver ES sedan with the GT pkg... loved this car too except that when i found out the P5 would be out sooner than i thought i had to have it! After drooling on it at the NAIAS in January but not really thinking id ever bother to get one cuz i had a 99 VW Golf GLS TDI at the time, i ended up deleting the Golf from my life and tossed back and forth between a Sentra GXE and Protege ES/GT. Glad i went with the Mazda or i wouldnt have a P5 right now!
So anyway, im glad to see theres lots of enthusiasm for this car, i wont likely be modifying the P5 much because my true love (and money) fall on my 88 Jetta Slalom, but its nice to have such a cool car for a daily driver and it looks better than my buddies WRX wagon (handles as well too :D )
This forum is now the best one on the net i think, thank god it was updated from the ezboard setup, that was horrible...
Thanks for listening!
Scott

Welcome to the board. Looks like another member that loves the twisties. :bt:

I wanted a WRX, but my wife refused to test drive it because it was so ugly. She also grew up in a Subaru family and vowed never to own one.

The 2001 Wolfsburg Edition Jetta was her #1 choice until we test drove the P5.

good to have you onboard for the board. So many Ontario people here... is there lots of proteges on the streets there?

I get mine in about 2 weeks... its on the boat and arrives in Vancouver next week.... I too looked at the WRX... yeah its got the hp but I couldn't fork out 36K+ tax.

I've had my car for just a little over a month now and no complaints yet! The novelty has yet to run out and new car smell is still there!

Anyhoo, I just wanted to say that this is an excellent discussion board and I really think it's cool that there are a lot of ppl from Canada on the members list!

Thanks guys!:bt:

yea ontario must have a lot. Where are all the so. cal people? (southern california). Ive seen like 3 others around here(over the period of like 3months). I hope that not many people get em out here because i like to have a unique car, but i except another P5er with open arms! haha, whatever, peace.

Greddy917 Nov 12, 2001 02:15 PM

Loneley out here

Yeah...I have mabe seen two other Protege5's running around in the SF Bay Area....no mods though...hehehe:D

Its nice having a new rare car...but I wouldnt mind meeting some other local P5 enthusiasts.

Welcome to the board!!!

I tested a WRX before buying my P5...you cant beat AWD TURBO...but it was just too much $$$$ so I settled for a cleaner looking car for alot cheaper. I am not dissapointed in the least. This Mazda is almost as much fun to drive as my old CRX SI. Plus, it looks a hellova lot better:bt:

The people on this board are great!

Makaveli, yeah there seems to be alot of P5s on the street here in London, ive seen at least 7 or 8, chatted with one at a gas station, and exchanged thumbs up with a couple others! No matter the age of the driver, everyone with a P5 seems very friendly and are enthusiastic about their car, and so far i seem to be the youngest one in town with one (if 27 is young :D )

Greddy! You lucky bastard... to have a P5 and the PCH right there!
Don't worry... you'll find P5 friends close to home soon

Greddy917 Nov 12, 2001 05:48 PM

I must be an idiot...but what does PCH mean?

GNO Nov 12, 2001 06:43 PM

PCH - Pacific Coast Highway, Hwy 1

Hey Greddy, I go out to Cali (mainly SJ and Monterey Bay, but my dad's in SF) once or twice a year. We can hang, so you don't feel so lonely :)
