Need Expert Advice

Ok, all, if it's alright with the Mods on this forum I am posting this in the wrong section--hoping for more visibility.

A girl in my office has a POS Pontiac Sunfire, '02, 5 speed.
The past year or so, it has been popping out of 1st and 3rd gear, occasionally, not always. Most 1st gear and mostly when sitting in traffic. When she lets out the clutch to accelerate, it'll pop out of 1st.
It's still under warranty (for what it's worth) but that's gonna be gone in the next few weeks.
She has had the dealer look at it several times but it never happens when they test-drive it. Or so they say. They won't take apart the tranny or anything unless they can identify the problem.
So my questions are:
Anyone know what the actual problem might be (and yes, I know it a POS Pontiac, LOL)? Or how to get the dealer to fix/identify it?

I'm counting on you all for this one!

syncro's maybe....??? I would go and tell them that another mechanic said it was the syncros, but why pay when you got warranty.

Yeah, that's what we think, too, synchros.
Thanks

it is certainly the syncros...and what I suggest you do is get down to the dealer....get them to put a tech in the car with you...and let you drive them around and PROVE to them its doing exactly what you say.....keep driving around till it does it....if they won't? I would be on the phone with the regional manager or whatever they call it for Pontiac....call the frickin home office....cause if you let it go till after the warrenty...which the dealer is trying to do...then its going to cost YOU a bundle, or her.
