My brother's cursed Hyundai Accent
So my younger brother Zach has this 2000 Accent hatchback. In three years, it's been in two accidents, been vandalized, and I think broken into, too. But the big one happened last week.
He was meeting up with some friends to go rock-climbing (he lives near Denver), getting all the ropes & stuff ready, and suddenly a huge boulder falls down from about 150 feet up. It missed all the people, thankfully, but a big chunk of it landed right on the roof of Zach's car. From the way he describes it, the roof is caved in about 6 inches, there's a hole in the sheetmetal where the tip of the rock poked through, and the doors open & close funny, so it sounds like the whole unibody's tweaked. I told him the insurance company will probably total it out; I can't imagine how much it would cost to replace the roof panel and straighten the door frames. (More than a 3 year old Hyundai is worth, I'm sure.) I'm still waiting to see a picutre of the aftermath; when he sends me one I'll post it. Souds like it's RIP Hyundai Accent... |
