MP3 or Speed3 (it is the speed3)

At Sundays autocross there was a blue MP3 very fast. The thing is this, the lic.plate read "Exp. Test". What the hell does that mean? Also the glove box had been removed and there was lose wires every where. Then there were two groups of wires coming from under the hood on the right side of the car and going into the passenger side. The car had four drivers I asked one of then what was up with the plates and he said that their trying to brake it.

AutoX is 95% driver, 5% car...the guy must really know what he was doing.

Hear any noticeable mods? Pretty sure if it was the Speed3 you would have heard a blow-off valve.

My dealer told me they woud have 2 speed 3's for sell in Sept. They would be around $20g.

The car had four drivers two were very fast one was new and couldn't find the gates. The other one I never herd the times. As for hearing the turbo spool up I was never close to it when it was running

ZoomZoomH June-10th-2002 03:11 PM

could be Callaway's test car that they used to develop the turbo for the MS Protege!

btw, don't most stock turbo cars don't have a BOV?

David June-10th-2002 03:19 PM

To bad the photos aren't of the other side then you could see the wires all over the place.

BOV can be quiet-recirculating type which doesn't went air into atmosphere and doesn't make any "pssssss" sounds.

To THE MAN

Those are the 17 -7 chrome millenia wheels, i have the same ones on my p5 except in titanium finish. they look almost identical to the polished chrome p5 wheels except bigger. Very hard to notice the difference but i can tell:D

this WAS the Callaway test car. it ran the auto cross in DM.

I thought the MazdaSpeed 3 was orange or black only? I still think its a MP3 with some work done to it. If its not and the Speed 3 is going to come in blue, I will be pissed
