Linksys DSL Router
 

Is anyone using a Linksys Cable/DSL Router & able to use FTTP upload programs? I can connect but the transfer dies after 30 seconds or so.

I'm using a Linksys router with my network at home. I don't have any problems using ftp programs. ;/

did you have to disable the firewall crap to do uploads?

i have had the linksys for some time now with no such problems... i was also running a ftp server off of it for awhile with no problems...

Umm any tricks to uploading pictures then? The transfer starts & only gets to 4% below the speed zero's out. I've tried all kinds of different FTP programs & get the same results

I use a linksys router, and have had no problems with FTP programs.

try setting your DMZ host to the IP address of your computer.

that might work.

i would not recomend enabling DMZ as this will totaly open your computer to the internet. if your not worried about security then go for it, but i dont see how that would help uploading since you are sending the data. however, you can just use the port triggering or forwarding option to direct all data over port 20&21 (common FTP send/recieve ports) to your internal IP. This will give you the same effect as enabling DMZ but also keep things a bit more secure. hope this helps.

I tried setting the port triggering to FTP & 20-21, this made the transfer faster at the start but it still stops @ 4% because the speed zero's out.

If you use the Forwarding Service Port the manual says you have to Disable the DHCP function & assign a new static LAN IP address, Currently the default when Enabled is say 192.166.1.100, if i disable this do I re-enter the same or start with something like 192.166.1.2 ? the router default is already set to 192.166.1.1

Not quite sure what your asking in this message, but you can use 192.166.1.1 for the router and any 192.166.1.x IP for the machines on your net with DHCP off. Remember if you turn DHCP off, make sure that you have DNS addresses and the gateway entered on the computers on the net... The DNS addresses will be the same as what you put in the router and the gateway will be the IP on the router. Ill be on the forum pretty much all day if you have any more Qs...

Are you having trouble with one FTP site in particular? I had some problems with this one site, but found a mirror site and BLAM! no problem. BTW, I am using the Linksys router Just trying to help.

The only place I've tried to upload to is my free space @ Earthlink, I've tried tech support but they can't do anything for me since I'm not buying their home networking package @ an extra $10 per month.

After months of playing around I found what was wrong, Within the Etherfast Routers softwares there's a Tab Advanced, Filters & a setting for MTU..Just enable it & set the value to 1492!
