Lawn mower...racing?

Wow...i've heard of ppl putting turbos on mowers for sh*ts & giggles, but as I sit here at work I kid you not, I'm watching ESPN and they have Lawn Mower Racing on. 20 laps on a dirt track.
It looks like a midget version of an ATV...it actually looks kinda fun!

LOL...stock class! OMG!! Woooah 5 miles an hour...lol...if that.

Jackelope October-13th-2005 02:16 PM

"The speeds vary by class. Stock classes may only go about 6 to 8 miles per hour. The Prepared (modified) has been known to go as fast as 85 mph, however on the track they only do 35 to 40 mph. FX (factory experimental) can reach speeds of 60 mph on the track."

forget stock... modified!

Doesn't matter what it is, if there are more than two of something, someone will figure out a way to race. Witness the power tool races they have somewhere out in the Pacific Northwest once a year (saw a show on Discovery or one of those channels).

I'd do it!

HAHAHA lolol, this brings back memories! My 8th grade art teachers husband did this! If you go to 2004 results, and click the first one, their was a couple smiths listed and I can almost guarentee he's one of them! He posed for a Lawn Mower Racing Calender they were doing, because he was one of the best around, LMAO! He owns a local yardcare store.
