Just Addopted a Dog

There she is, my new dog. Isn't she cute? ;) I've been living in an appartment for the last 1.5 years and was dying to get a house so I could get a dog, now the time has come.

I just hope she doesn't pee on my Protege's back seat!

Anyone else here a dog lover?

hello KrisA, Yes, my wife and I are certainly in that catagory. Do yourself a favor and go to WallyWorld and get a big, thick, black bath towel....cover your back seat where the new addition to your family will ride.....the pup will like it.....and it will help keep your seats a lot cleaner...not to mention free or more free from doggie hair. She/He is a cutie. Ya just gotta love that face. :)

Oh, your dog is so cute! I have a little beagle and love her to death, but I just can't bring myself to letting her in my car because its so hard to get hair out of those seats. But that towel suggestion sounds great.

Do you guys put your dogs in the hatch? I'm getting my P5 in a few weeks and I take my dog everywhere (65 lb basset hound), and I was wondering if she would be comfy in the hatch.

I was thinking about getting the cargo tray or cargo mat for the hatch, but I can't really tell the difference between the two from the small pictures on Mazda's site. Can someone please explain what the difference is, and maybe include a picture if possible?

Thanks

I had a dog 3 years ago, but that summer my father had went food shopping, and the dog ran to the door sniffing the food as he brought it in, i went to grab a bag and i looked up and my dog took off and dashed into the woods ! :( :dunno: :( Never to be seen again :crying: LOL

WE, our family, currently have two dogs, a boston terrier and a spitz mix....my wife has been training and showing dogs for most of her life.....we are about to get a new addition to our family, a Beagle and she, my wife, is going to start doing Search and Rescue work with it....

ChrisR......depending on your dogs riding habbits I am not sure he would be happy in the back....you would of course have to remove the package tray.....but a basset is a pretty good sized animal.....he would probably be much happier if you layed the back seats down and made a large flat area for him in the back that way. even so...I would suggest getting some sort of large blanket or covering for the carpet/seats to make the clean up of the doggy hair much easier.

Lost Concept.....sorry for your loss......I have never had to watch as one ran off.....but have had to hold a friend in my arms as they slipped away to a better place. Its never easy.....and in our family, our pets are family memebers.....just like having little furry children. :(

The cargo mat is like a floor mat and the tray is a different mateial that you could spray out and it has little walls around the edges like a bowl or something....

me and my wife live in an apartment :crying: and have 2 Italian Greyhounds, but as soon as we get a house. first thing were going to get is a Weimaraner!

So far so good, she is a great dog, super friendly, fun to play with, and very well behaved. The other good thing about her is that she is big enough at 47 lbs that she is a bit intimidating when she gets mad at someone. She should be a good watchdog.

Our dog is great in the back seat of the car. She just sits there and stares out the windows. I did put a blanket down in the back seat to keep the fabric looking like new.

This is my "walking nose"....Anybody else with a beagle will understand. But to his credit, he's adapted to my lifestyle quite well, all he does is eat, sleep and s**t. And I swear he understands English......
