I actually saved about $300 every 6 mos switching from GEICO to Progressive. GEICO has steadily gone up every 6 month period from $160 a month for four months to $220 a month for four months which makes ~ $860 every 6 months. Now I pay $570 every 6 months. Screw GEICO!

Also, Progressive is one of the few companies that will discount you if you live with somebody else who drives a car with insurance (ie. a girlfriend). A friend's father is a insurance agent and said to definitely do Progressive over GEICO for price and customer service reasons.
