LOL... well not really, but i have been planning to buy a second car as of lately, and had been looking all around the US for a 2nd Gen RX7, but then it turns up, as i went to look at a probe gt, there was a mechanically sound 1st gen sitting a lot over. So i take a first look and think, hmm kinda ugly (sun beaten paint, kinda bad) but then get the dealer to start it up and tell me about it.... not a bad little car. ah yes, and the awesome choke to get it started, havent seen that for a while!

its a : 1983 Mazda RX7, 120k miles, 12A Rotary engine (good for about 100hp), RWD, new tranny and clutch (5speed tranny), no rust, good clean wheels and body, needs paint job bad... very sun beaten (had a bra on it most of its life too), crank sunroof, cold A/C, AM/FM radio w/ Tape, 2 seats of course interior is relatively clean and tight other than the seats are worn (i found new seats at the import salvage yard today anyway out of a 1st gen for 100 bucks for the set)..... and to top it off a perfectly sound, clean running, full compression, non-oil burning engine..... all for a measly price of 800 bucks, and im going to talk the guy down to 700 hopefully (lol thats the size of my paycheck i just got):D

so what a deal huh, it doesnt sound like much, but hell im just going to screw with it this summer, get it up to excellent condition and hopefully resell it.

wow...sounds like a STEAL to me....you better grab it up quick!

how did it drive?

man around here....if it runs and goes...you can get at LEAST $15OO for it...even if it looks like a POS!

lol yeah, im going to try to pay 700 for it, even though Kelly Blue Book says 800 is the exact price for it.

well the drive idk about.... the guy didnt want to help me, thinking that the car i was driving was stolen or some bull shit (pulled up in my p5).... he asked me why the hell i wanted a pos like the one he was standing by... i guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder...lol, but i havent driven it, i have to go back with my dad tomarrow to drive it.... but reving the engine it sounded pretty good.

hey good find. im looking into buying a beater for a winter car. Dont really want to drive my washington raised pro in a iowa winter. :( Hey that junk yard you went to they didnt have any mx-3 seats for sale did they? :D

you know, i thnk it may have, i know there were tons of mazda seats out ther e though, anything from leather mx6 seats to miliennia seats, and even new p5 seats...... but ill be back out there soon so ill give it a look

welll i checked it out again today, started up like a champ, no trouble at all..... looked it over more thouroughly (haha cant spell... sorry) no body rust or anything, it just needs paint...

But it looks like the rear axle is funky, also the gas tank is rusting through.... but the seats arent too bad, its just he has gay covers over the leather seats, which arent too bad of shape.

so it looks to maybe be a winner (or wiener at that, lol)... but im going with my dad tomarrow to test drive it and such, if it cant do 80 with ease its not even going to be considered..... we'll see.

so how did it drive?

well it didnt drive too bad, but not as confident as i would like, i had decided to wait and buy a nice car (96 Probe GT) and pay a bit more.... though me and a friend may buy this car just for the hell of it.... we'll see what happens later this month
