The Honda Civic had been customized with racing accessories including a special engine, seatbelt and car doors that lifted up, Klare said. Champ told police he had plans to race the car at Portland International Raceway. http://www.oregonlive.com/news/orego...6813183770.xml  |

I wanna know how a Civic was traveling that fast. Unless the guy had modified it, the aerodynamics of the car would require a huge amount of horsepower to hit that speed. Oh wait, maybe he had one of those huge wings on the back! That would do it!!

not to mention the tranny upgrade. Unless he was running 8000rpms when the cop got the lock. |
those swivle doors bring it that faster too.
trying to copy Lamboroghini's, its no wonder why that civic is fast (HAHAHAHAHAA) |
If only the news had all the knowledge we have...

Sweet. Something from my home state! The 205 in/near Oregon City is an odd place to speed like that. Not very straight for very long before a sweeping turn. That Civic must have had some juice under the hood or something to get up to that speed. The guy should have done that on I-5 10 miles south of there, straight as all else for 40 miles til you hit Salem. But hey, if the guy has all these liscence problems and other things, he's not that bright. So of course he wouldn't have done a straight highway in the boonies...or how about not speeding all together on roads? PIR is a great track; race there.
Oh well. And all you non-Oregon drivers, be glad you don't have 55 mph metro speed limits. It sucks. 65 mph is all the better it gets in the middle of nowhere. Hooray for California highways. |
142 is a very respectable top speed for a 1992 civic.
