insurance and track racing

is it true that if your insurance company finds out that u take your vehicle to the track and race they will sky rocket your premium??

cause I heard from somewhere that they consider taking your car to the race tracks as a condition of subjecting the car to extreme driving conditions and therefore an increase risk of danger therefore higher premium....

anyone heard of this before? or was my source BS?

who the hell tells their insurance company they race? that's like volunteering the fact that you got 10 tickets last year for wreckless driving to them... no one does it. even if it is true... i'm sure they don't have insurance spies at the track writing down license plate numbers then checking their systems and raisin your insurance. hehe

well... that i didnt think about ;D since i drag race... and unless you're a really bad driver, you don't have accidents. you'd have to ask jesse or darryl about it probably... since they both autox a lot, they might know a bit more about it. :D

Standard automotive insurance does not cover racing (legal or otherwise). Say you got into a street drag race and wrecked your car. They could legally say no to your claim. I have heard that there is special insurance for on-track racing you can purchase but I would bet it is pretty expensive.
