Im pissed off @ the SCCA

those bastards just axed the stage rally series in north America, they are no longer the sanctioning body for this incredibly fun and involving sport. They are "hoping" that Rally Usa can pick up where the SCCA superpower has left this sport. Stupid bastards...fuck them..im not renewing my membership and I hope they go out of buisness....assholes. :ak47: :wtf: :gay: :bonk:

Quit the SCCA? What are you going to do when they are just about the only game in town? I'm joining up next year, because I NEED to race. But I see it like the phone company... there are very few alternatives, so you take it in the chin and pay the bill.

Don't blame SCCA. Blame the insurance companies and the attorneys. SCCA has done an admirable job with the program but insurance costs and legal risk endanger the entire club in the event that another tragedy would occur.

there are othes besides the SCCA, NASA for example....
as far as the SCCA and the bean counters, there was no membership discussion, we as the paying membres of the SCCA had no say, no forewarning no nothing...which says to me that we the members mean nothing to the machine that the SCCA has become. The SCCA has its roots in rallying of all sorts going back to their early days, can the SCCA really justify the loss of sponsor income, membership income, participant income and the dramatic effects the loss of the rally program will have an all the small towns that rally really helps to keep alive? I dont feel they really thought about this enough, i think the bean counters and the lawyers got together and made the decision, told the SCCA BoD what they are gonna do, and they bent over and took it....

SCCA could be a lot worse. At least it is still somewhat grass roots. Motorsports are fun right up until it is no longer just a bunch of folks having fun on the weekend, with a piecemeal sanctioning body just to keep it safe and sane. Things start to suck in a hurry when the garage queens start rolling into town, ordinary folks become priced out of racing, and rules get made simply to take away any competitive technical advantage that a car might have. At that point, it is less about racing, and more about money.

Could be a lot worse. Look how bad NHRA can be, or even (though it is far out of our reach) how bad CART became. CART's chronic mismangement, in fact, may be the cause of its own funeral - it costs a lot, and no one seems to care anymore. Then there is Nascar, which was born running actual factory-stock cars on dirt tracks in the south. Cars like step-down Hudsons you could walk into a dealership and buy on the following Monday. Nascar is good fun, but it has nothing to do with real, "stock" cars anymore, or anything less than giant corporate sponsorship and televised TV deals.

the SCCA has been heading more towards a financial/political institution than a grass roots based club for years....this just seals the deal for me...
